7-2 ncaa bowls
2 teams that really did go in different directions in the last half of the season. wku won two of their last 6 with the 2 wins basically by 1 point, the fiu win ended up being by 8 but was end of game shenanignas. cent mich took advantage of their weakened 2nd half schedule and won 4 of their last 6. all things considered, cent michigan had a better 2nd half. so, wku faltered down the stretch and then the ole okey doke on taggert happens. so you played horribly down the stretch and then the reason you are in your first FBS bowl game gets the F out and he's taking some of his assistants with him. ok cool, let's keep going about our business. uhhhhhh, wait a minute, wku just hired a new coach? someone from the inside? taggerts right hand man? haha, of course not, a controversial figure in petrino who's hiring has now all but overshadowed the fact that WKU was 0-12 two years ago and are in a bowl game now. so again, we end the season on a shitty note and we hire a controversial new coach, who will not be coaching this game, instead it will be Lance Guidry, a guy who will try to keep things together to salvage this season, but what is Guidry's next move? is Taggert taking him to South Fla? nope, is Petrino going to keep him on for next season? i highly doubt it, so i wonder what Guidry has been doing over this break? i would guess trying to secure his own future, but wait, there's more....not only is he trying to figure out his next move, but...“It’s been a rough go for me,” said Guidry, who also dealt with a death in his family last week. “It’s been a little bit more difficult, but the coaches have done a great job and I think the players have done a great job adjusting. It’s been a tough go, but I think they’ll be ready and I think they’ll play hard, I really do.” i mean damn, i realize the paper says wku is the better team in all facets, but that is a lot to overcome to go play in your first bowl. meanwhile cent mich is hopping on over to the D to play in a bowl game that has extreme implications as far as recruiting in their own state of michigan. if you are thinking about going to play at a directional school in michigan, i bet you look at this bowl game as a bit of a factor, so i think Enos will have his guys ready. their defense played better down the stretch and they certainly have a little momentum. Being down two of their best receivers will certainly blow, but mr. linesmaker didn't seem to jump out of his chair and jerk the line all around. cmu should be alright, Flory, who did not see the field on a consistent basis, burst onto the scene with nine catches for 118 yards and two TDs against Eastern Michigan. Flory replaced Titus Davis after a sprained ankle in the first quarter sidelined Davis the rest of the day. Flory should be seeing the bulk of the snaps in Davis’ absence again. I never thought i could be related to a black rb that plays for central michigan being that i'm some white dude who lives in charlotte, nc, but Zurlon and I do have the same last name (hence my twitter handle @etip11) so that has to mean something right??haha, they should feeeeeeeeeeeeed him the rock a ton tonight and rely on their sr at qb in radcliff to make heady decisions. So on the flip side, i think ole interim coach Guidry will want to limit the mistakes on their side, so i'm hoping that means playing a bit more close to the vest, but what i really hope is that in pressure situations, an interim will not have as good a success rate as an intact coaching staff on the other sideline will. I think wku will do the same on their side in terms of offense, feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed Andrews the ball. afterall, apprently guidy has already said as much, ......Guidry said he and his staff will keep tabs on Andrews’ numbers during the game. Should he approach Sanders’ record, WKU will adjust its play calling accordingly. he needs 274 all-purpose yards today to break the NCAA record for all-purpose yards in a season set in 1988 by Barry Sanders at 3,250. wku will also be without its nfl prototype DE Smith tonight and since he was the nations leader in sacks/game when he tore his acl in the 2nd to last game, i think they just might miss him a bit. so, here we go: as i go to put it in, i was victim of a 1/2 point drop, my guy moved it down to 6 so cost me a bit more to get the insurance of a TD, but oh well.
