LSU vs. Ohio State
Not a whole lot to say here. I'm an SEC man and think here again tonight that the speed of LSU's defense will be a major deciding factor in the outcome of this game. Ohio State hasn’t played since November 17th while LSU played on December 1st against Tennessee. We saw last year what such a long layoff could do to a team and Ohio State falls into the same scenario again this season. IMO, last year’s Ohio State team was much better than this year’s version. Sure the 2007 version has the better defense but offensively this team isn’t even close to the talent they had on hand a year ago. On paper I give the Ohio State defense a very, very slight edge in this match-up as LSU also brings to the table an excellent defense. Like I said earlier though, I'm loving the overall speed of the Tigers defense. But offensively the Tigers are much better and are as healthy as they have been all season. The dual threat behind center should really give the buckeyes fits. Similar to how Florida used Chris Leak and Tim Tebow in last year’s title game, LSU will utilize Ryan Perrilloux in short-yardage situations while we'll get to see Matt Flynn taking the majority of the rest of the snaps. A great one, two punch combination that I think will prove to be very successful.
Ohio State has lost all eight of its bowl games against SEC opponents. During Tressel’s tenure, the Buckeyes are 4-2 both SU and ATS in bowl games, but both defeats came at the hands of SEC foes (South Carolina in 2001, Florida last year). LSU has won both bowls under Les Miles, trouncing Miami 40-3 in the 2005 Peach Bowl. LSU has won four in a row at the Superdome, including a 34-9 win at Tulane back in September. The Tigers crushed Notre Dame 41-14 in last season’s Sugar Bowl and bested Illinois 47-34 in the 2001 Sugar. In 2003, Nick Saban led LSU to a 21-14 win over Oklahoma in the BCS title game in New Orleans.
Not much more for me to say. I like LSU in this one and that's who I will be laying my money with tonight. Good Luck to everyone out there that's with me!

GL to us tonight belle!!! I have been known to be wrong before but I see these SEC teams week in and week out and know all to well what they are capable of without a doubt. After keeping up with Ohio State all year too, I feel like this is the correct play for tonight. Look at Ohio State's opponents during the season. None of Ohio State's opponents were ranked in the top 20 when the Buckeyes played them this season. SEC and their teams are like playing a top 5 team every week. I guess we'll see the results in a few hours!

Natural...have agreed with this point, do agree with this point, and (good/bad) still agree with this point. HOWEVER I'm hesitant to be so confident. The proof Michigan instilled in me was enough for me to refrain. I believe Florida to be THE FASTEST team in the SEC, and Ohio St to be that in the Big 10. So, how do you make the argument that speed kills, when it failed miserably against the power game of Michigan. I still like LSU, I just think too much is being placed on this "speed" that seems a little closer than people want to believe.

aaaa1- remember that every kid playing for ohio state was recruited by lsu, usc, georgia or any of the other big time schools. their list of recruits on the big board has most of the same names on it. speed difference- not what you think it is.||clover.gif' border=0>

BossDog, thank you for bringing that point up. I've been waiting for someone to compare this one to the Florida game. Fact is, when I posted Florida to win big last year, I heard a lot of the same arguments. Until, I'm proven wrong, I'll be sticking with my SEC.
