Beyond laughable. People that come in and bash without offering concrete analysis are idiots. They are not hired by books. Again, if books were so concerned with these sites, they would not advertise.

Helmut and others do nice jobs but no poster here moves the line based on his opinion....objectively speaking, the totals market is very volatile and it does not take a lot of money to move the line a point if money is played at one of the major books.....where it may take 20-50 dimes to move a side a point, it takes about 10% of that or less to move a CBB total.....Helmut does a nice job and has a nice following....if he bets a dime on a total and 50 other players follow his advice and play $200 each at a major book, it could easily move 2-3 points off the action.....it's simple economics....not fear of any poster on Covers....
VERY INTELLIGENT POST!
Does Helmut move a line? No. Does the line move when a large number of people put money on a certain side? Yes. And as you said, especially CBB totals, where there is not a huge amount of money in comparison to sides.
I had this argument last year in MLB with Vanzack. He stated "GH does not move lines". No, but a huge following does. Simple supply and demand. Matchbook is a perfect place to see this. If a line goes out too low, it gets bought up, until the line goes up, then it finds its equilibrium, where there is the economic term "indifference". Lines move on demand.

Gamehunter and snakebit - No disrespect intended here, BUT...
If Helmut posts a total how is it possible that "if he bets a dime on a total and 50 other players follow his advice and play $200 each at a major book, it could easily move 2-3 points off the action"...SO, how is it possible for this to happen within 5-10 minutes of the play being posted??? It's not possible yet the lines move within minutes. Will the following that Helmut has do this over the course of the rest of the day until gametime? Sure, that's possible. BUT, for this to happen withing minutes is IMPOSSIBLE! Helmut does move lines. I see it every single time he posts a total. You almost NEVER see a total move the way the one's that Helmut plays do. IMO, Helmut DOES move lines...can't get that kind of action within minutes.

Hey Lakers...hope you had a good weekend...my understanding is that Helmut posts on several websites and actually emails the people on his buddy list before he even posts on Covers...as such, by the time he posts on Covers, many people already have a head start on his playing his totals and Helmut has already played by the time you read it....nothing wrong with the way he does things, but by doing so, people are betting the totals as you read them so the effect of it being posted on Covers drives others like you to add to the "buy" orders in the market....what I am trying to say is that the economic facotrs and forces are already in motion by the time you are reading the posts so it may seem like the lines are all changing within one minute, but that is because the demand is already in motion prior to then....
