Not so fast, fellas...Iona +5.0 is the play tonight
Okay fellas, understand that I am not taking a victory lap here, just trying to help out those of you who want to learn a little about capping.
I do not know how any of you cap games and come up with a "fair" line. I use Sagarin to at least establish a base-line. Based on the Sagarin Line, the fair line was Monmouth -9.0, when adding in home court advantage of 3.5.
The oddsmakers opened this line at Monmouth -7.0. The line was subsequently pounded down (meaning a lot of money came in on Iona) to -5.0/5.5 depending on your book. The books did nothing to balance the action.
It has been my experience that the team getting "shorted" on the spread is almost always the play. Hence, Iona was the play tonight.
The line that was hung on this game today should make you have the exact opposite reaction that you typically have. You see it and think "holy crap, all I gotta do is lay 5 on Monmouth. Sign me up!" Your reaction should be a skeptical one, and investigate WHY the other team might just be the play.

Cheers fellas, just trying to help
Yep, looked too easy indeed. But I had my 2-0 in the NBA and was all in. Always love going against 90% of the public with the line moving the other way.
