My best friend during my days in law school called me last night. It had been years since I last heard from him. He was a brilliant attorney who had graduated near the top of our class (order of the coif), landed a six figure job with a prestigious criminal defense law firm, and had a nice home out in the Pacific Palisades. He had everything going for him the last I recall. I was excited to hear how he had been doing all these years until he dropped a bombshell on me.
He said he had moved from Pacific Palisades to downtown LA, traded in his Lamborghini for a shopping cart, and nixed the squeaky clean image for rags and a full beard. He gleamed at the fact that he hadn't shaved for 7 years. He further explained that his "new" life affords him something every man deserves: freedom. He says he no longer has to keep up with the joneses, validate his success in life by his lavish toys and opulent home, and more importantly, he can do what he pleases day in and day out. He said there are many ex-lawyers, doctors, and Gordon Gecko-type guys who live here in the Skid Row district. He said Skid Row is the mecca for burnt out professionals. He added, "I'm more enriched panhandling $100 a day than working my tail off for $1000 a day."
He then tells me that just the other day, a man who was dressed to the nines, pulled up in his Ferrari and handed him a business card. It read, "Mega Sports 3000 - Professional Picks". Wow, he thought to himself, another one of these touters. This gentleman tells him that instead of giving his "hard earned money" to my friend, he will give him the "lock of the century". By now, my friend is internally scoffing at this guy. This man then proceeds to tell him how his company has made millions swindling people through unscrupulous means, often using gambling forums as their base. He said he will give him a freebie this one time because he felt sorry for my friend. He elaborated that the tout is "Iona with the points, especially with the revenge theory in full lock. This is not your average revenge theory: They had not only lost to Monmouth in OT but they also had gotten their a-- physically beaten down during the end of the game brawl." He then adds, "That is what we tout but the real fact is Monmouth is going to win and cover the -4.5. I got boatloads of people subscribing to me based on this revenge theory. So far its worked because the line is steadily dropping in Monmouth's favor."
My friend asked if I can place a bet for him in Vegas because its a hot day in LA and he doesn't want to work out in the sun today.

Monmouth is destroying Iona tonight. The first time worried me on the road. I believed we were the better team last time anyway. The Multipurpose Activity Center and their sold out crowd tonight in West Long Branch is at long last gonna see the Hawks become Conference Champs again.

If we don't pay attention to what their doing to our way of life here in the 'West' ...that slow but, inexorable slide for all of us from life on the big highway to life under the bridge at the byway is looming...Have we not progressed far enough to afford our populations a proper life work balance where we don't have to run like ferrets after the measly 'slave wages' the corporate fascists in control afford us?!?

Yep Zzitoo, in addition, like I said, as fate would have it, they could win the MAAC tonight. I have a hard hard time seeing them lose, and I dont think this game is gonna be that close. Won by 8 on the road. I think we're a good amount better than them and they might not even be Monmouth's biggest threat to winning the MAAC. Sienas played well lately too and could see Iona losing before the MAAC Championship.

I wouldn't place too much stock in leading rebounder being out. I think we've been outrebounded almost every game lol. THats what worries me in March. Rebounding is not our strong point. We're not gonna beat a team from boards, we'll beat teams keeping turnovers low and making free throws.

I agree with most of what you say, but are you worried about a revenge game?
Revenge games don't always work out. I remember a few years back, Xavier and Cincinnati got into a heated end of game brawl that Xavier ended up winning by @ 3 pts. Next year, Xavier beat them down by @ 18-- on their court.

Not worried about a revenge game at all. We're the better team this year. Add to it a chance to win the league vs them on our home court. It's a chance to show we're back as a program. Iona can't play d. I trust us to clamp down enough. We don't have Iona's track record at home when we played them earlier this year, but we've been a great home team this year.
