We're down to the final two weeks of the regular season, but that gives us plenty of time to head into the playoffs with some positive momentum, not to mention a little extra cash in our pockets. Here are four prop plays to consider this Sunday.
Most passing yards
Carson Palmer (Oakland Raiders) vs. Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers)
I really like the way this matchup sets up for the Raiders offense. Oakland's speed at the wide receiver position should really shine through against a less than formidable Panthers secondary. After being held out of the end zone by the Chiefs last week, we can expect to see Palmer bomb away early and often with little to lose at this stage of the season.
The Panthers’ offensive game plan will revolve around their ground game, not to mention the legs of Cam Newton. He'll be his usual dynamic self but will have more success running the football than throwing it in this particular matchup.
Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) vs. Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys)
We're getting solid value backing Tony Romo against a below-average Saints secondary. Romo should have a little extra hop in his step following last week's huge win over the Steelers. I fully expect to see Miles Austin and Jason Witten step up with strong performances as Dez Bryant continues to nurse his finger injury.
Drew Brees faces a tough challenge in the form of a much-improved Cowboys secondary, which certainly proved its worth against Pittsburgh last week. Look for a very un-Brees-like effort from the Saints superstar in this one.
Most rushing yards
C.J. Spiller (Buffalo Bills) vs. Reggie Bush (Miami Dolphins)
We've successfully gone against Spiller on a couple of occasions this season but we’re on his side this week as the Bills aim to wear down a tough Dolphins defensive front.
I suspect we'll see the Dolphins focus on airing it out against a struggling Bills secondary. Reggie Bush will still likely have a big game but don't be surprised if much of his success comes on screens and dump-offs, as he makes magic after the catch against an undisciplined Bills defense.
Most pass receptions
Danny Amendola (St. Louis Rams) vs. Vincent Jackson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
There's no denying that Danny Amendola is Sam Bradford's favorite target and he finally appeared to be healthy last Sunday. This is a favorable matchup for Amendola against a Bucs secondary that will take some chances. A good route runner like Amendola should find plenty of room to operate.
Vincent Jackson has topped out at six catches in the last eight games and he'll be hard pressed to finish north of that number here. The Rams will generate plenty of pressure on Bucs QB Josh Freeman, giving him little time to find his favorite target down field.
