West Brom v Everton: What bettors need to know

Jan 18, 2014 |
The final match in this week's round of fixtures takes place at The Hawthorns as West Brom hosts Everton in Premier League action Monday.

West Brom v Everton (+300, +250, +105)

Why bet West Brom:
Well, they have the "new manager" factor working in their favor. Former Real Betis coach Pepe Mel takes over at West Brom. He had a successful 2012-13 campaign in La Liga, but the side had been terrible this season and he was sacked on Dec. 2. The Baggies sit 15th in the table and have one win, one loss and three draws in their last five and they held Everton to a scoreless draw at Goodison Park back in August.

Key players out/doubtful: Billy Jones, Goran Popov

Why bet Everton: Everton's fantastic season continued with a 2-0 home win over Norwich last time out. The Toffees are fifth in the table with 41 points and have the chance to leapfrog arch-nemesis Liverpool, which will certainly be motivation enough. Creative-attacker Ross Barkley is slated to miss some time, but that could open the door for Ireland international Aidan McGeady, who came over from Spartak Moscow during this January transfer window.

Key players out/doubtful: Antolin Alcaraz, Ross Barkley, Gerard Deulofeu, Arouna Koné, Darron Gibson

Previous meeting result:
Everton 0, West Brom 0

Key betting note: Everton is unbeaten in 13 of its last 14 Premier League games.
