Miami Heat back on top of NBA futures odds

May 25, 2012 |
The Miami Heat are the favorites to win the NBA title again following their dominance of the Indiana Pacers in the final three games of their Eastern Conference semifinal. Oddsmakers have moved the Heat from +200 down to +160, bumping the San Antonio Spurs from the top spot at +170.

The Heat, who were NBA futures favorites all season, were briefly replaced as the frontrunners after suffering back-to-back losses to the Pacers. However, Miami won three straight games to take the series in six, covering the spread in each of those wins.

The San Antonio Spurs, who have marched through the postseason with a perfect 8-0 record (and an 18-game winning streak stemming from the regular season), now face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference finals. The Thunder are set at +300. San Antonio is a -190 favorite to win the West, while Oklahoma City is priced at +150.

Miami is a -400 favorite to win the Eastern Conference over either the Boston Celtics (+450) or Philadelphia 76ers (+850). The Celtics are set at +1100 to win the NBA Championship. The Sixers are priced as +3900 long shots to win the title.
