Odds available on Andy Murray's next Grand Slam win

Sep 11, 2012 |
The wait is finally over for Andy Murray and British tennis fans after Murray won his first Grand Slam title – the first major men’s title for the UK in 76 years – at the U.S. Open Monday.

So, when is his next one?

That’s what one UK book is asking tennis bettors. Bet365.com has posed the prop question, “How Many Grand Slams Will He Win in 2013?” following Murray’s thrilling 7-6 (10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 win over Novak Djokovic at Flushing Meadows.

"Now that he has won his first major, he knows he can do it, he has really improved in the big key points in a very high-pressure match," Aron Black of bet365.com told Covers. "It's very similar to Djokovic, who previously - even though he had an Aussie Open to his name - would crack against (Roger) Federer or (Rafael) Nadal in the big matches at majors but then was able to change that and win impressively, especially last year."

"None in 2013" is the slight favorite at +120 over One +125 while Two is set at +400, Three at +2,500, and Four is paying out at +15,000.

"With Djokovic, Federer, Nadal all still being around,
Murray has definite chances at the Aussie and U.S. Open and obviously Wimbledon. But he will still be a much larger price to win the French, as clay is by far the weakest surface for him," says Black.

Also available for tennis bettors is whether or not Murray will win a Wimbledon title, which hasn’t had a homegrown champion since Fred Perry in 1936. “Yes” is set as a -162 favorite with “No” priced at +120.
