See spot. See spot bet: This week's best spot bet opportunities
Spot bets are classic handicapping practices that have proven profitable no matter what sport you’re betting. Whether it’s a team looking past this week’s opponent, one coming off a hard-fought victory, or a rough patch of schedule, bettors can find value picking their spots.Letdown spot
The NBA Christmas Day games are the crown jewel of the regular season. And this Dec. 25, basketball bettors get five games stuffed in their stocking. The San Antonio Spurs have a huge matchup with the Houston Rockets, in what could be a changing of the guard in the Southwest Division.
The Spurs, already nursing aches and pains to their key contributors, don’t get much of a Xmas vacation after rumbling with the Rockets, flying directly to Dallas for a Dec. 26 meeting with the Mavericks. San Antonio’s aging superstars are beginning to show the effects of last year’s long playoff run and meet a Dallas squad coming off a two-day break.Lookahead spot
The Detroit Lions are looking ahead to some time away from football – and so are their fans. Detroit watched any postseason hopes crumble in an overtime loss to New York Sunday, handing the Lions their third straight defeat and fifth in the last five games.
That late-season collapse will likely cost head coach Jim Schwartz his job, no matter what happens with Minnesota in the finale. Detroit lacks discipline and Schwartz has been on the out with Motown faithful since the same thing happened last year. The Vikings, on the other, seem to like their head coach with Minnesota’s stars like Adrian Peterson and Greg Jennings publicly supporting him. Schedule spot
Mississippi Valley State hits the West Coast for back-to-back games in Washington this weekend. The Delta Devils take on the Huskies Friday Dec. 27 at 10:30 p.m. ET before heading to Pullman to face the Washington State Cougars at 8 p.m. ET Saturday night. That makes for a long weekend, especially when you factor in the time change.
Mississippi Valley State has lived on the road to start the season, playing six of their eight games away from home. The Delta Devils have lost all six of their true road games and are 1-1 SU in neutral-site games.
