Pro handicappers share best NBA season win total picks

The LVH Superbook in Las Vegas released their NBA season win total odds for the upcoming basketball season Tuesday, and it didn’t take long for bettors to voice their opinions.

Some of our Covers Experts chime in on the NBA season win totals with their favorite Over and Under picks for the 2013-14 NBA season:

Bruce Marshall – Sacramento Kings (Over 31.5)

“No team made as many solid organizational moves in the offseason as Sacto, which will see immediate benefit from the new Ranadive ownership. Offseason additions such as Greivis Vazquez and Carl Landry add a solid veteran presence and the sky is the limit for first-round pick Ben McLemore. As usual, the big X-factor is C DeMarcus Cousins, but sources say he has embraced the new coaching staff. Improving at least four games from last year's 28-54 debacle should be a minimum expectation.”

Will Rogers – Houston Rockets (Under 54.5)

“What stands out to me is the Rockets with such a high number. Dwight Howard was a disaster in L.A. last season, and he's established a reputation for being a bit of a head case. I don't think anyone should just assume that the addition of Howard makes the Rockets a contender.”

Jesse Schule – Toronto Raptors (Over 36.5)

“They are looking at a number just slightly higher than the 34 wins they finished with last year. After acquiring Rudy Gay from Memphis, Toronto was 18-17 and the Raptors won seven of their final eight games of last season. They no longer have the Andrea Bargnani situation hanging over their heads, as they moved the struggling former No. 1 pick to New York. Toronto should be a little better team than it was in the first half of last season.”

Teddy Covers – Minnesota Timberwolves (Under 41)

“Here are the actual number of T-Wolves wins over the past eight seasons: 31 in 2013, 26 in 2012, 17 in 2011, 15 in 2010, 24 in 2009, 22 in 2008, 32 in 2007, 33 in 2006. And this year they've got to finish above .500 to beat me? I'm not buying a double-digit win improvement, even with Nikola Pekovic back in the fold. Let the Kevin Love trade rumors begin.”

Ben Burns – San Antonio Spurs (Under 55.5)

“Popovich has done a remarkable job and last year was one of his best coaching jobs yet. While last year's lineup remains essentially intact, Father Time, injuries, the loss of a pair of assistants and a hangover from last year's near miss, figure to take a potential toll.”
