Howard, Iguodala force oddsmakers to adjust NBA futures odds

Many online sources reported Dwight Howard had chosen to join the Houston Rockets for the 2013/14 campaign Friday evening.

Sportsbook.com wasted no time adjusting its futures odds:

The sportsbook also moved its Lakers futures from 30-1 to 50-1.

But the drama didn't end there.

Another story broke later Friday night reporting that Howard had changed his mind and had a 50/50 chance of staying in Los Angeles.

Sportsbook.com and many other books promptly altered their L.A. odds once again after the story broke.

Dwight then told an ESPN reporter he would sign a free-agent contract with the Rockets when the league lifts its annual moratorium on player business Wednesday, forcing sportsbooks to scramble once again to adjust futures back to their initial values.

He also made it official on Twitter to end the confusion:

CarbonSports.ag posted props on Howard’s potential 2013-14 team back in April, setting Los Angeles as a -300 favorite ahead of other potential suitors.

Lakers -300
Rockets +250
Mavericks +350
Hawks +1000
Nets +1500
Field (Any Other Team) +350

Howard wasn't the only NBA superstar grabbing headlines Friday.

The Golden State Warriors reached an agreement with free-agent guard Andre Iguodala on a four-year deal worth $48 million.

The Warriors were being dealt at 30-1 in NBA futures earlier this week at the LVH SuperBook and are now being shopped at 25-1 at some online markets.

Iguodala averaged 13 points and 5.4 rebounds in 80 games for the Denver Nuggets, who were an awesome 49-32-1 against the spread last season.

The Warriors also shipped Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins and Brandon Rush to the Utah Jazz Friday to free up the cash to sign Iggy.

I think this is a good move for Dwight although if it were me I wouldve stayed with the Lakers bc eventually Mike will be fired. It just amazes me the physical tools Dwight has why he cant be a better offensive player.McHale is one of the most underrated players in NBA history. If anyone can help Dwight with his offense its McHale.Dwight has the physical tools to be one of the Greats.I like the move with Harden and Parsons .Moreover,I think they will add another star to team.Lakers are really gonna suck until Kobe comes back.Still cant believe Bus left Phil out in the cold, but Phil is an EGOMANIAC so Im trying to give lil Bus the benefit of the doubt.

The MEDIA........owes Shaq a sincere apology to take the nickname of a 4 ring legend and give it to a ringless clown. Shaq clowns around and play to the crowd......but he bringin 30+ pnts 15+ rebounds and getting 3+ people to foul out on a DAILY basis and when its game on!!!.......NO SMILES...........ALL BUSINESS.....AND WHEN ITS PLAYOFFS??? PLAYOFFFFSS!!!??? it will be a deep run or a RING!!!! Legends just have that ability.....DWIGHT DONT...........PERIOD!!

His best chance at a ring........take a pay cut and get on the LeBron bandwagon. Way to much competition in the west. And going to a small market will not reduce the visibility of an over rated center that just wasn't able to deliver on being a champion of legendary status. Maybe if he goes to Akeem the dreams camp he can learn post play.......but not that fade away or hook he has no go to money move and his dunk moves are not ferocious like Shaq was.....the real superman has long retired.

Houston will be another version of Orlando. Inside outside 2 demsional game. When 3s go in they win...when they don't they will lose. Then Dwight gonna cry about he need help rebounding and cant do it alone. Dwight is an overrated tweener. Not big enough to dominate and too big/lazy to run...hes gonna mess up the overs with his cry baby slow behind.

Dwight is not SHAQ he is NOT a game changer. The total domination of the middle that had opposing coaches scrambling for answers....does NOt exist with Howard. I think his back issues are more serious than people think. The last time he dunked with any authority was the All Star Game when he dressed up like a fake behind Superman...Dwight lookin more and more like...BAZARRO...the imposter of the real superman..SHAQ!!!!
