La Salle returns key big man in time for Sweet 16

Sophomore center and key reserve Steve Zack is cleared to play for the La Salle Explorers in their Sweet 16 matchup with the Wichita State Shockers in Los Angeles Thursday.

Zack averages 6.4 points and 6.4 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game. He has been in and out of the starting lineup, but has been coming off the bench since February 13. He has missed the last six games with a severe left foot sprain.

After being cleared to play, the 6-foot-11 Zack joined practice with 20 minutes remaining and dunked the first two times he got the ball according to The Philadelphia Enquirer. He was icing his left foot after the practice. Head coach John Giannini said he was surprised that the doctor cleared Zack to play.

"If he can go in and make a shot miss, make a play here or there, it could be the difference," Giannini told reporters.

The Explorers are 4-point underdogs versus the Shockers. The total is 135.5.
