US Open betting: Tiger's odds to win take another cut

With last weekend's win at the Memorial Tournament, Tiger Woods has kicked off another betting frenzy.

Easily the most popular player on the planet, sportsbooks have been forced to pad his odds considerably throughout his career because of the heavy action he sees every week.

Now that it looks like he might have found his game again, the LVH Superbook in Vegas moved Tiger to an 11/2 favorite to win the US Open, down from 6/1 just three days ago.

"At Olympic, we’re all going to have to hit the ball great there," Woods told reporters. "That golf course, you can look at the history of guys who were in contention or who ended up winning, all were wonderful drivers of the golf ball and good, solid iron players. That’s what it’s going to take there at Olympic, more so than most U.S. Open sites.”

I am going to take a flyer on Zach Johnson at 40/1. Olympic doesn't favor long hitters w/ wide margins for error, and Johnson is a medium hitter who is clutch at short game. With two second places and one first place in the last month, I'm surprised he's not 20/1 or less. Also interested in how often Dustin Johnson played Olympic in the past. I believe he's a NorCal native who had that explosive round at Pebble two years ago, may be worth 40/1 as well.
