So far, the Los Angeles Kings are getting by all right without Anze Kopitar, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury on Saturday. The Kings have won both of their games since, but this is the sort of injury that will catch up with the team sooner rather than later.

Kopitar doesn’t get a lot of publicity, but he’s the heartbeat of this team’s offense. He had 73 points in 75 games this season and was a plus-25. What’s worse, Los Angeles’ No. 2 scorer Justin Williams is also out with a shoulder injury, leaving captain Dustin Brown and his 54 points to carry the offensive load.

“It's just going to be a good test for this young hockey club," coach Terry Murray told reporters. "We'll be better when we come through it. There's no question about it. Guys are going to be in a higher situation, more important situation, and they'll grow immensely through this opportunity."

Maybe eventually, but this is a tough spot for the Kings, even against a Canucks club that is on autopilot. Alex Burrows scored twice to lead the Canucks to 3-1 win over Nashville on Tuesday, completing a 4-0 road trip for the club.

Anytime when you see the Florida Panthers set as a chalk, you have to take a serious look at it – especially this time of year.

The Panthers are 1-7 in the last eight games in which they’ve been favored and that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Well, outside of coach Pete DeBoer, apparently.

They were all one-goal games late or in the third period," DeBoer told reporters after Florida dropped a 3-2 decision to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shootout.  "We lost twice in the shootout. Our guys aren't quitting. We're just not getting the points I think are deserving of their effort. They're battling right to the final game."

Rewind a week ago and that wasn't the tune goaltender Tomas Vokoun was singing. The Panthers may be keeping it close lately, but this number is too steep.

I swore I wouldn't bet anymore unders in games that involve Sieve Mason. I made it about 2 months and then took one the other day,got a push so I went for it again......Classic DDH dumborness

2 team PL PAR... 1unit to win 6units. Im on Nashville with u DDH..They without a doubt need this game for the playoffs..They are the 7th seed but only 5pts ahead of 9th place Dallas.(dont 4get Nash has played 2more games than Dallas) & Calgary.Also 2pts ahead of 8th Chicago while playing 1more.In Western Conf u DO NOT want 2 finish as 8th seed or u get VANCOUVER.Needless 2say im thinking Nash rolls 4-1..2 close out my winner lol, gotta go with SAN JOSE@home.1pt behind DET for 2nd place with 2nites game in hand.They will dominate Dallas 2nite 4-2...Im due & when this hits bils im using it for my PHILS-76ers-FLYERS 3team Par 2morrow.

I know it is not Friday yet, but opening lines came out at sportsbook.com for tomorrow's hockey and I just made this bet now because of this 1 great trend this season when Kipper faces the Blues. Also with the Blues scoring a whopping 10 goals on the wings last night, I'm hoping a letdown and a push by the Flames who need to win their remaining games to have a shot at the Playoffs...............Kiprusoff is 3-0 vs. the Blues this season with a 0.34 GAA, .988 Save-percentage and 2 Shutouts........................Calgary -105 vs ST LOUIS, to win 1 unit.

no more bets in hockey for me today, just the 1 play on the Under.............LuckyLogan, thanks for the kind words. I wish I was betting all of your hoops but hey, I have followed some of your plays in the past, so it is nice to share and reciprocate with some winners, like DDH said..............I am not the best handicapper in hockey, but it has been great that I stuck with it after a bad start, and I've made a nice comeback this season. I hope to get to positive again soon. But at least for the calendar year 2011, I am up..............As far as FLORIDA, they have 5 games left and after tonight, they are all are against Playoff Teams (the Capitals twice, Penguins and Lightning once), so those MoneyLines will be HUGE. They would make for good ML parlay material, but I will stay away from the PuckLines -1.5 because of Vokoun. Also, SIX out of the last EIGHT losses for the Panthers have been by only 1 goal. But I will be betting the UNDER in those Capitals vs Panthers games.......Good Luck!

Just looked over the NASH/COL game and I see a bunch of the team experts on the matchup page loving the U 5.5 but I disagree,especially after looking over the stats for both teams L5 games. NASH is scoring 3.4 and allowing 2.6 while COL is netting 2.8 and giving up 3.8. Also all 3 meeting this season have went over with NASH covering the PL in each game. 5-1 NASH in COL,5-3 NASH in NASH and then 4-2 NASH again in NASH. Taking a shot at a bit of a flyer here NASH PL-1.5 to the O 5.5 +510

I was lazy and hangover hard on Tuesday and only did the bare minimum of capping and paid for with with a losing night in both sports finishing 4-7-1 -3.75 units overall. Yesterday I hit the books hard and was rewarded with a nice night. The pro hoops were a complete wash at 3-3 for even money but CBB was again paying nicely. I ended up 4-0 +8.0 units thanx to a big S-CLARA ML W at +420 and ORE ML to U parlay for +180. NHL was also solid going 5-2 for +2.85 units to put me back up well over a nickel overall on the week overall......................................................................................I've only glanced over the NHL board but why not go right back to the well with the U 5.5 in the CAPS game. A few dogs worth a closer look are PIT and OTT. Then there are also a few other teams I like to win but they're carrying a hefty price tag so some creativity may be required there......................................................................................... Looks like very slim pickens in pro hoops tonight. I would normally take the SPURS but not when they're this banged up. And the Lakeshow at home are appealing but the MAVS are no joke. I see the Lakers winning but 7 is getting up there. In CBB I really like the numbers for WHICH ST on the road. They have a nice 10-6 S.U and 11-6 ATS road record as well as 4-2 in neutral site games. BAMA is just 4-6 S.U and 5-12 ATS on the road with a poor 2-5 rec on a neutral floor. With this game at MSG I give the edge to WHICHY "WOMEN" ST by a possession.

last time Rangers played NYI Montoya was also in net and scored 5G's on him. But the Rags haven't scored more than 1G in their last 4. I expect to break out against their cross-town rivals. Trends: Rags won L4, 6 of 7 and 14 of 20. And here is something i just discovered - Lundqvist has played 5 games this yr B2B nights. 3 of games he L the first & W the second (2 SO!) and in all 5 B2B's he won 1 and lost 1. I'm betting this trend to cont.

On Wednesday I went 0-1-1 for minus 1 unit, getting the Push on 5 with the Under in the Devils game, but their crazy streak keeps going and now it is 24 games with only 1 Over...............For Thursday I am again on the Under 5.5 in the Capitals game and there are a few good stats on their opponent also. The Blue Jackets are only averaging 1.4 goals per game in their last 5 while the Capitals are scoring an average of 2.2 goals and only giving up an average of 1.6 goals per game in their last 5. The Under is 6-2-1 in the Blue Jackets' last 9 games overall. And in their last 5 games, Columbus has 3 Unders, 1 Over and 1 Push.........And then you have the crazy trends on the Under for the Captials that keeps on getting better. The Under is 21-4-1 in the Capitals' last 26 home games. And The Under is 45-10-1 in the Caps' last 56 overall. I can't see how anyone could bet against these strong trends. If I lose, so be it, but I'm not jumping off now........I may add some more plays but I made this one tonight on the Overnight Lines, so I figured I would post it now. Thanks guys for the help on here. I manage to cash in on the 6T parlay last night. that mavs game scared me a the end though. Still down overall on the year here, but we'll see

1* Pittsburgh (7:05 ET):  Good matchup here for the surging Bucs taking on the struggling Cubs. Having won 8 of 10, at home, and with a hot pitcher on the mound, Pittsburgh should roll here.

The Pirates have won both series so far on the current homestand, including taking two of three over the weekend against Houston, their old NL Central rival. Now they play a current division foe, one that's lost three of five.  Pittsburgh has revenge on its mind here after dropping two of three early in the season here at PNC Park.  Fortunately, they have Wandy Rodriguez on the mound for Tuesday's series opener.  The southpaw has won back to back starts, allowing only two runs over 13 innings. His ERA in four home starts thus far is a sparkling 1.35.

The Cubs come in averaging just 2.7 runs per game vs. lefties, batting .217.  They are not a good road team either, averaging only 2.9 runs while batting .218.  Pittsburgh is 15-9 at home.  Chicago will go with Matt Garza for the 1st time in 2013 Tuesday.  An injury to his right elbow caused him to miss almost the entire second half of 2012.  A lat injury has caused him to miss the first two months of this season.  He will be on a strict pitch count.  He'll also have to deal with Pittsburgh having Andrew McCutchen back in the lineup.  1* Pittsburgh.
