Last year the New England Patriots became only the second team in NFL history to finish the regular season with a perfect record, and the first to win 16 games in doing so. Although they failed to win the big prize after a stunning Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants, Logans.com oddsmakers still believe the Patriots should lead the league in wins again, setting their over/under odds for total wins this season at 12.
The Giants, despite being the defending champions and winning 10 games last season, have their over/under set at 8.5 wins, which is the same as division rival Philadelphia and two less than NFC East counterpart Dallas. Other teams with the highest over/under win totals include the tried and tested Indianapolis Colts with 11, the San Diego Chargers with 10.5 and Jacksonville Jaguars with 10.
Amid all the controversy over Brett Favre’s future, the Green Bay Packers seem to be the one team getting the least love from bettors and odds makers. A 13 win team last season and overtime loser to the Giants in the NFC Championship game, the Pack have their over/under win total set at just 8.5 games. The biggest jump is expected to come in Miami, where the Dolphins could not possibly do worse than the lone victory they picked up in 2007. With the Big Tuna, Bill Parcells, leading the Fish this year as the team’s general manager, Miami is looking at an over/under of 5.5 wins.
The lowest over/under belongs to the Atlanta Falcons, with 4.5. Seems they still have a ways to go before rising from the ashes of the Michael Vick fiasco.
“Every team and every fan has a sense of optimism and hope heading into the season. Everyone looks good when their record is 0-0,” said John Thomas, Logans.com spokesperson. “Because predicting total wins is so difficult, it is a great betting prop for fans.”
