Opinions varied for the opening spread of Monday's national championship game after Kansas topped Ohio State late Saturday night to set up a Jayhawks-Wildcats matchup.
BetOnline was the first to post going with -7, the same number Lucky's and Cal Neva advance line release last week, but moved down to 6 shortly afterward.
PinnacleSports.com opened shorter at Kentucky -5 but quickly moved to -6. Rival offshore shop 5Dimes opened UK -6.5 while the Wynn, the first to open in Nevada, went with 5.5. The Wynn jumped to 6.5 within five minutes of posting its number, according to Dave Tuley of ViewFromVegas.
Sportsbook.com set Kentucky at -6.5 and the total at 141. Jay Rood, MGM sportsbook manager, said his book agrees with UK as a 6.5-point favorite but has the total at 140. Lucky's Sportsbook also has the Wildcats as 6.5-point faves.
"We set the lines a few days prior to the semifinals and had Kentucky at -7 versus Kansas," said Lucky's oddsmaker Jimmy Vaccaro. "We took some early money on Kansas and dropped it to 6.5. We anticipate it staying on that number."
Kentucky and Kansas played last November and UK won and covered as 6.5-point favorite.
