Sharp money on the Washington Redskins has moved the spread from New York Giants -3 to -2.5 for tonight’s Monday Night Football showdown in the nation’s capital.
According to Jay Kornegay, sportsbook director of the LVH Superbook in Las Vegas, wise guys bet the home side early this morning after most of the action this week was on the Giants. The LVH opened with Washington as a slight 1-point home underdog.
“The bigger plays are all on the Redskins but there’s more small stuff on the Giants,” Kornegay told Covers. “The big question at this point is if it’s enough to push it back to three. I doubt it.”
Most books are dealing 2.5 or three on the game. Kornegay says if books are looking for Washington money, all they need to do is to move to Redskins +3 (even).
As for the total, the number has come down from its opening of 51 and is bouncing between 50.5 and 50 heading into kickoff. Kornegay says sharp bettors usually side with the under in divisional games, going against the public trend of betting the over on Monday night games.
“They’ll bet these types of divisional games under. There is also the high number around 50. They’ll bet the under with that,” he says.
