Alex Pietrangelo scored 46 seconds into overtime to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night in Las Vegas.

Pietrangelo finished an odd-man rush with an easy tip-in into a wide-open right side of the net off a crossing pass by Mark Stone. It was his second goal of the season and first since Nov. 10 against the San Jose Sharks, a span of 27 games.

Jack Eichel had a goal and an assist and Logan Thompson made 32 saves for Vegas, which won for just the third time in 10 games.

Matt Grzelcyk scored for Boston, which lost its third straight game, all in extra time. Jeremy Swayman finished with 23 saves.

Both Thompson and Swayman turned away 18 shots during a scoreless first two periods before Eichel then gave Vegas a 1-0 lead at the 7:01 mark of the third period with a power-play goal. He redirected Jonathan Marchessault's pass into the low slot through Swayman's pads.

It was Eichel's 19th goal of the season and the 199th of his career. The tally also snapped a 122:41 goal drought for the Golden Knights.

Boston tied it with 7:42 remaining. Grzelcyk fired a shot from the left point that changed directions off the stick of Vegas defenseman Alec Martinez and went inside the near left post for his second goal of the season and first in 20 games.

Boston, coming in off a 4-3 overtime loss at Arizona on Monday that saw David Pastrnak stopped twice on breakaways in the extra period, had a chance to take the lead in the first minute of the game when Pastrnak broke in free down the slot. However, Thompson turned away the backhand try with a glove save.

The Golden Knights, who failed on a short five-on-three power play near the end of the first period, saw both Eichel and Stone leave the game over a four-minute span in the second period.

Eichel limped back to the locker room following a check along the boards by his former Boston University teammate Grzelcyk but returned at the end of the period. Stone left hunched over in pain after taking a Hampus Lindholm clearing pass off his right hand but eventually returned in the third period and set up the game-winner in overtime.
