David Pastrnak had a goal and an assist in regulation, then registered the decisive tally in a shootout as the Boston Bruins beat the New York Islanders 5-4 on Friday night in Elmont, N.Y.

Morgan Geekie and James van Riemsdyk also recorded a goal and an assist apiece for the Bruins, who never led until Pastrnak's shootout goal for their fifth win in seven games (5-1-1). Mason Lohrei scored a goal, while Kevin Shattenkirk logged two assists.

Goalie Linus Ullmark made 33 saves in the win.

Bo Horvat had a goal with two assists for the Islanders, whose four-game winning streak ended. Brock Nelson had a goal and an assist, Simon Holmstrom and Alexander Romanov also scored and Mathew Barzal notched two assists. New York's Ilya Sorokin stopped 30 shots.

Nelson put in a carrom of Horvat's shot off the boards for a 4-3 lead with 7:59 to go in the third. But Boston answered as Lohrei sent in the puck from the corner, below the goal line, and had it sneak past Sorokin to tie the game with 3:09 remaining.

After allowing Boston to score twice on the power play, the Islanders netted a man-advantage tally to break a 2-2 tie. Horvat, who extended his point streak to nine games with an earlier assist, beat Ullmark from the slot with 14:54 remaining in regulation.

However, after Brad Marchand's apparent tying score was overturned via review for pushing the puck in the net, Boston leveled things on its third power-play goal. van Riemsdyk deflected in Kevin Shattenkirk's shot with 9:12 to play.

New York opened the scoring 1:42 into the second period. Off a faceoff win by Horvat, Barzal got the puck to an open Romanov to convert. The Islanders made it 2-0 with 6:34 left in the middle frame. Via a two-on-one with Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Holmstrom went backhand-forehand to beat Ullmark.

Shortly after Pageau's short-handed shot of the puck toward an open goal was thwarted by Ullmark's skate, the visitors answered when Geekie made good from the slot with 5:15 left in the second.

Boston tied it with another power-play goal less than less than three minutes later. This time, Shattenkirk delivered a cross-slot pass for Pastrnak to one-time home with 2:34 remaining in the second.
