Alexandar Georgiev made 29 saves to record his second career shutout as the visiting New York Rangers averted a season sweep at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers with a 3-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Strome collected a goal and an assist, Pavel Buchnevich scored to reach the 20-goal plateau and defenseman Brady Skjei also tallied as the Rangers (31-34-13) snapped a six-game skid versus Philadelphia.

Georgiev extended his right pad to deny James van Riemsdyk on a breakaway late in the second period to preserve New York's 2-0 lead. The 23-year-old Georgiev turned aside 11 shots in the third period to secure his first shutout since posting a 29-save performance in 5-0 win over the New York Islanders on Nov. 21.

Rookie Carter Hart finished with 22 saves for the Flyers (37-34-8), who have dropped seven of their last 10 games. They lost to the Rangers for the first time since sustaining a 5-1 setback at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 16, 2018.

After scoring just two goals in the first three meetings with Philadelphia, New York matched that total after Buchnevich and Strome tallied late in the first period.

Buchnevich settled Mika Zibanejad's centering feed before beating Hart from the doorstep to open the scoring with 3:35 remaining in the first period. The 23-year-old Russian's 20th goal extended his point streak to seven games (four goals, four assists) and career point total to 100.

Strome doubled the advantage with three seconds left in the session after one-timing Brett Howden's feed past Hart. The goal was the 25-year-old Strome's fifth in six games and 18th of the season, with 17 coming with the Rangers since being acquired from Edmonton on Nov. 16.

Skjei's wrist shot from the point caromed off a pair of Flyers and past a screened Hart to cap the scoring at 7:39 of the third period.

Hart kept the game scoreless after denying defenseman Marc Staal's shot from the slot at 3:21 of the first period and Buchnevich's subsequent bid from the doorstep. Hart also closed his pads to thwart Howden on a breakaway over one minute later.
