Erik Johnson had one goal and one assist to help lift the Colorado Avalanche past the host Philadelphia Flyers 7-5 on Monday night.

Tyson Jost, Nazem Kadri, Valeri Nichushkin, Gabriel Landeskog, Alex Newhook and Cale Makar each scored one goal for the Avalanche.

Devon Toews and Mikko Rantanen added two assists each.

Avalanche goaltender Justus Annunen made 27 saves.

Claude Giroux scored two goals for the reeling Flyers, who lost their ninth in a row (0-7-2).

Oskar Lindblom, Cam Atkinson and Scott Laughton contributed one goal apiece while Travis Konecny, Travis Sanheim and Kevin Hayes had two assists each.

The Flyers fired head coach Alain Vigneault earlier on Monday and replaced him with assistant Mike Yeo on an interim basis.

Flyers goaltender Martin Jones stopped 43 shots.

The Flyers went ahead 1-0 when Morgan Frost sent a pass into the middle and Giroux unleashed a nasty slap shot at 6:02 of the first period.

The Avalanche tied it at 1 when Johnson scored a short-handed goal at 9:56 with just three seconds left on a Philadelphia power play.

Landeskog put Colorado up 2-1 at 13:13 with a wrist shot over Jones' shoulder.

After Giroux was called for a penalty, the Avalanche quickly took advantage when Newhook fired a shot that deflected off Philadelphia's Justin Braun and past Jones for a 3-1 lead at 15:16.

Just 26 seconds later, Makar skated end to end and scored for a 4-1 lead. Annunen earned a rare assist with the initial pass.

The wild first period continued when Lindblom recorded his first goal of the season at 16:28. Giroux then connected again, this time on the power play at 18:20, to pull the Flyers within 4-3.

Colorado extended its lead to 5-3 at 1:42 of the second when Nichushkin spun around and scored.

When Atkinson went sprawling to the ice and scored at 2:16 of the third, the Flyers got within 5-4.

The Avalanche regained a two-goal lead with a goal by Kadri at 5:42 on a two-man advantage.

After a turnover by Keith Yandle, Jost capitalized with a goal at 11:35 for a 7-4 lead.

Laughton added a short-handed goal for the Flyers at 18:35.
