Senior quarterback Marcus McMaryion rushed for four touchdowns and threw for 270 yards as visiting Fresno State earned a 38-14 nonconference victory over UCLA on Saturday night at the Rose Bowl, keeping the Bruins winless after three games under new coach Chip Kelly.

McMaryion's first three rushing touchdowns were from 1 yard, including two in the third quarter after he was treated on the sideline for a minor back injury. He had a 2-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Fresno State (2-1) defeated UCLA for the third consecutive time, but the Bruins still lead the all-time series 6-3. UCLA is 0-3 for the first time since 1971.

Two of UCLA's three defeats under Kelly have come at home as the Bruins have given up an average of 37.7 points per game. In four seasons as the head coach at Oregon, Kelly's teams lost just seven times, while winning 46 games.

UCLA true freshman quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson was 10-of-24 for 151 yards and two interceptions in his third game and second start.

Fresno State was in control early, scoring touchdowns on its first two drives. McMaryion scored on a 1-yard run with 10:03 remaining in the first quarter, but kicker Asa Fuller missed the extra point.

After UCLA punted on its opening drive, the Bulldogs put together a 75-yard drive, scoring their second touchdown when McMaryion connected on a 10-yard pass to senior tight end Kyle Riddering.

Fuller added a 28-yard field goal in the second quarter for a 16-0 lead.

The Burins mounted a comeback late in the second quarter as Thompson-Robinson connected on a 45-yard scoring strike to junior wide receiver Theo Howard.

Senior running back Bolu Olorunfunmi added a 2-yard TD run with 12:59 remaining in the third quarter as the Bruins cut the lead to 16-14.

It was all Bulldogs from there as Thompson-Robinson threw his two interceptions and McMaryion rushed for three of his scores. McMaryion finished with 16 yards rushing on nine carries.

Fresno State sophomore running back Jordan Mims rushed for 85 yards on 21 carries. Thompson-Robinson led UCLA in rushing with 49 yards on eight carries.
