Carlik Jones scored 18 points and Jae'Lyn Withers posted a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds to lift Louisville to a 69-57 victory against visiting Notre Dame on Tuesday night at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.

Primed for a rebound after Saturday's 45-point loss at North Carolina, the program's first action in 19 days following a pause related to COVID-19, Louisville found its rhythm early. The Cardinals started 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc, a far cry from their 1-for-16 woes against the Tar Heels.

Louisville shot 42.2 percent compared to 36.8 percent for Notre Dame while earning its sixth straight win against the Fighting Irish. The game marked the Cardinals' first victory overall since a 16-point home win against Georgia Tech on Feb. 1.

Samuell Williamson (12 points) and Dre Davis (11) also finished in double figures for the Cardinals (11-5, 7-4 ACC), who were without starting guard David Johnson, who missed the game with an unspecified illness.

Notre Dame (9-12, 6-9 ACC) never led en route to suffering its third loss in five games. Juwan Durham (18 points) and Prentiss Hubb (14) scored in double figures for the Fighting Irish, and Cormac Ryan had nine points and eight rebounds.

Malik Williams added 10 boards to help the Cardinals to a 45-30 advantage on the glass.

Louisville led by as many as 11 points in the first half and took a 33-24 lead into the break. While the Cardinals shot a mere 34.2 percent in the first 20 minutes, they connected on 40 percent (4 of 10) of their attempts from long range and made all seven free throws.

Jones and Withers led Louisville at halftime with eight points apiece, while Durham scored eight for the Fighting Irish.
