This doesn't take into account any freshman.
So if there is an Oden and Conley out there they'll have to wait on the edge of their seat until I make my midseason top 10.

Mike Cook, Levance Field, Sam Young...in that order...look for Cook to have a breakout year.
Also if Sam Young is working hard then the order will have to be changed

Also this poll is sort of like throwing straws in the dark. Most of these teams have guys back
who had big time rolls last year. However, what you will probably see is someone like Paul Harris look alot better than anyone expected simply because someone has to take the shots that Dimietrius Nichols left for the NBA with. If he is an efficient shooter and his team makes him a big part of the offense then you will see them shoot into my top 5.
Samething goes for any team that had a guy leave
for the NBA.

nropp,
Yeah I just put together my list of likely contributors as freshman to teams that are already pretty good.
derek Rose-Memphis
kevin love-ucla
donta green-cuse
austin freeman-gtown
johnny flynn-syracuse
Cole Aldrich-Kansas
Big men should make an impact faster so you gotta love what Love,Aldrich and green are going to bring to their teams.
I think Howland should get it done finally this year. How could he not with this squad?
Look for the Big East to be tight at the top with Lville, Pitt, Gtown, and Cuse all being loaded. I know having Pitt up there is going to cause some ridicule but these guys have a solid core and were not a one man show last year.
The x-factor is Rose. If he can put efficiency together with his talent then Memphis could find itself back in the final four though I don't think they will have the chops to hang with the real big dogs that late in the season.
For now I will stick with my original ranking and change them for injuries and newcomers somewhere around the middle of February.
good luck to all
thanks for the props cataclysm

If Memphis players were that good they wouldn't have squeaked into the elite 8. They have holes just like everyone else. Freshman take a little time to acclimate and most coaches ease them into the rotation.

Memphis returns everyone but Jeremy Hunt from last season's Elite 8 team. We will have only one freshman starting... and he's considered to be the #1 pick in next year's NBA draft.

Memphis is just fine at number 9. They will peak out this year at number 1 at some point but they won't finish with anything higher than 4, and they will be the guaranteed first number 1 seed out of the tournament. Never enough offense, or clutch shooting performance in big games...especially if they plan on playing the freshman they have coming in...sorry Memphis fans.

some guy at USC might disagree with who will be the no.1 pick next year
I have him third on the hype meter(not my ratings but other ratings) behind Beasley and Mayo. Who is actually better? We will see this season.

Never enough offense? That is laughable. They only have two freshmen that will be playing. They return all starters from an elite 8 club and add the future #1 pick in Derrick Rose, top 30 prospect Jeff Robinson, and former top 30 prospect Shawn Taggart.

UCLA
Returning 4 starters from last years Final Four team. Argueably the best point guard in the nation in Collison, Shipp back and healthy, and Luc Moute, Mata, and Aboya in the front court. And the nukmber 1 reason I like UCLA:
6-10" 250LB Center FRESHMAN
Kevin Love.
Bruins are the team to beat in my opinion.
But, what the hell do I know?

My other 9 in no particulair order:
UNC
MEMPHIS
MICHIGAN STATE
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
WASHINGTON STATE
KANSAS
TENNESSEE
NORTH CAROLINA STATE
VILLANOVA
Watch out for the 'cuse. This point guard they got is going to be special!

Bruins are definitely the team to beat. My Tar Heels are a close second but have too many gunners to truly be unbeatable. Tar Heels can run it up but UCLA will wear you down so I'm picking UCLA.
Dark Horse is definitely Cuse. Point guard or no point guard they have Paul Harris and he's going to be playing major minutes||an_speechless.gif' border=0>

Having Pitt at #3 is a joke. They aren't even close to a Top 10 team. Washington and Maryland are real suspect to have in your Top 10. Washington wasn't even very good last year and they lost Hawes too. Plus, Memphis at nine is way too low.

Afflalo was not their best player. He took the most shots and wasnt their best shooter so he was more like the most selfish player.
Hawes is a bum. See description of Afflalo above.
Guys,
If you aint an NBA starter right away then your team can replace you. There is alot of secnod tier talent but very first tier guys. Any team that was really good last year that only lost a second tier guy is going to be fine coming into the season.
Pitt is always very good because they always have the most second tier guys that know that they aren't first tier guys. They play like a team a beat you because they play smarter, not because they are more gifted. Pitt isn't going anywhere.
At least I do my research and know the top 5 or 6 guys on every team and have a good handle on their abilities and inabilities. Its funny when some guy gets on here and starts loud mouthin about some 7 foot center who doesnt get boards or a shooting guard who shoots alot and brings nothing else to the table. Yeah those guys are real irreplacable.

He took nearly 30 percent of all of his teams shot when he was on the floor. He was the worst at getting to the line on the entire team, offered no rebounds, little assists, and no steals. That is an average college shooting guard.
I just reread my post and I'm sorry if it sounded like I was taking any shots at you. YOu only offer positive posts on the forum. You definitely aren't a loud mouth. I apologize that it sounded as if I was coming at you.
I don't think very much of Afflalo and think the Bruins are actually better without him. That is why I have them ranked above my own Tar Heels. Our guards play like he did and that only gets you so far. Love, should be a tremendous addition and like Marvin Williams in 05' should have an easy adjustment. That team could have won it all without him and so can the Bruins.

gee I can't believe I wrote that gibberish. I hope all could kind of tell what I meant to write at 10:26. I'm a bartender so 10 26 is pretty early for me.
