not in mood to skim thru motivations; with 7 teams winning the 1st leg on road Im fearful of these stronger clubs electing to play behind the ball and just protect the lead. maybe even rest regulars for their wknd domestic leagues. the h*ll with this.

kind of taking the evening off & gonna start on the wknd card and get that organized. just two regular plays not much capping involved.

UEL:
Arsenal/Bate over 1.5 1st half @+108 - not even sure if BATE can score here, which makes me shy away from the game total as Arsenal might shut it down once/if they hit 2 for their EPL match this wknd. theyre in a dogfight with ManU for that 4th slot. they "should" put this one to rest early though.

Genk to win @-110 - not sure what Im missing here, thought Id have to take the HC to reduce juice. Slavia have scored just 4 goals in 7 matches; Genk strong at home and have already beaten several opponents of similar skill quite comfortably.

MY RANT: the heck with the results, 0-2 is a 'do-able' thing nowadays anyways.

I completely forgot he was with them........ and yesterdays match REMINDED me of this:

Diego Costa is the dirtiest futbol player on this planet....STILL.

the sh*t he pulls is stuff hes been doing his entire career.  I remember when he was in his first stint with Atl years ago, he undercut this player (forgot which team it was... some UCL match in cold weather) and the guy landed awkwardly on his hip/spine, i think it was fractured. out for season and never really recovered ended his career early.
theres a difference between being aggressive, challenging balls, and playing tough. i let those plays slide, like Godin flattening Christian on that air challenge near sidelines. at least he was going for the ball.

Diego..............doesnt even make attempts to go for the ball.

he just constantly shoves his hips into your waist as ur going up. sure, it happens a lot during games, sometimes unintentional. but  if ur gonna clobber someone from behind at least make the effort on the ball in doing so.

Im curious to know some of the EPL folks opinions in here, didnt he spent like 4 years over there if im not mistaken?  so youve had a weekly dosage of him. Im serious when i say this ... i cant stand this guy.

at least Flopper doesnt hurt anybody when he frolicks in the grass. Diego is a cheapshot artist.

cazzo!!  and i have another 90 minutes to watch this pile of ******, playing again!!!!

Not only is he dirty, but when he missed from 10 yards I remembered why I hated him - he's Spain's version of Benzema.  I lost more than one bet b/c he's such garbage when he was at Chelsea.

He may be better than I think he is, but that won't change my opinion.

Loose, Out   just gave you guys some 'promotional advertising' over in Boll thread.

yeah, it all started coming back to me the second i saw him in the lineup. the stuff that doesnt get caught on camera. what you see on tv doesnt even justify it. was in Milan years ago when they played in KO's; just a dirty player.

got done watching Arsenals 1st half practice session of crosses into the box. cazzo!! its never easy with them.

COPA LIBERTADORES

Because I see this match as a tossup Nacional parking the bus I have to go with any team  +.5 or +.25, and a little on the TIE and a bit less on 0-0. If the total was 2.5 I'd be making no bets - but it's 1.75 the home team being a scoring machine.confused

Nacional should lose the TOP stat. Nacional should only attack on a very safe, forward counter. The rest of the time playing behind the ball, going for a tie and then bring it home. I said in another thread Alvarez is a mediocre coach but has some better players than Nacional. Nacional's issue is with their new coach and the team is still trying to play into his system. Player turnover on Nacional is something that has plagued them for years, such a revolving door. Barcos just coming in for this season from Argentina is great but a streaky player this season so far. As most forwards his D is lower than the average forward. He's old. But man sometimes he takes an awesome shot or passes it off, not a selfish player, knows where the open man is that has a better shot.

For as confused as I am about this match Nacional and Libertad are both probably just as confused. The game plan (for both teams) might just change on the fly. The next game will be easier to handicap as there will be more certainties due to familiarity.

So as stated above and because Nacional does not look as good as Libertad the previous 2 rounds the line is adjusted as such so gun to my head I would take the half or quarter goal for less money to be made than the tie and play it safe.

3U is a standard/average bet for me so:

NACIONAL +.25 -120  2U

TIE +195 1.5U

Interesting is that the "final score 0-0" is +425 and "first team to score - none" is +500

First team to score - none +500 1U

I'm mostly playing for interest and also due to the fact that Nacional knows how to win ugly on the road (score and park the bus). A 1-0 is the same as a 4-0 win so this line might just be too over adjusted (Libertad's lsat win 4-0). Last match Nacional at home totally dominated and had a huge TOP and scoring chances advantage - but the opponent was weaker.

But don't tail me. Libertad is banging on all cylinders right now.

spec, i'm not coming in here to wind u up, honest but I love Costa for the player he is, he's an old fashioned brute of a centre (sic) forward. 1970's style, who will barge the keeper at corners, step on someone's ankle at set pieces, its niggly but its "the dark arts" and in today's PC/sanitized world, you don't see that play much anymore.

There's still a place for it IMO though, there was a big debate with my tottenham mates a few years ago when he was at chelsea as to would we have him at the Lane, I want my team to win and i'll take any edge I can get, "nice guys finish last" is one of my fave mantras when it comes to sport.

I agree with Mr B. I hated him when he was at Chelsea, but the guy brings something to a team that no one else really can/will. If he’d fit and help us win, I’d take him. There are few guys I wouldn’t want if they’d help us win, no matter how much of a POS they may seem... but he is and always will be dirty as shitt

Barney    thanks fer stopping in and that info. Laid off the game, Libertad tough as nails at home    all 4 first legs in the books, all relatively close results with the 2nd legs slated next week.  going to auto-fade all 8 clubs this wknd.

Boll   yes, yes, yes.   a dying breed in the day and age where our youth are being taught to fall down at the slighest contact in the penalty area.   perhaps we can just agree that he is the type of player you hate to play against but would love on ur team.  but theres a difference in my eyes of being aggressive and going over that line.   he goes over that line.

DTP   (as always) " but the guy brings something to a team that no one else really can/will" ur comment reminds me of Gattuso. back ithen when Milan was a european power it was "known" throughout Italy,  "you dont touch Andrea (Pirlo)"  youd get a pair of cleats in ur ankles next time down the field.  one of the unsung heroes of our WC, just did all those little things.
and ... if necessary.... would attack the refs too

Spec  everybody loves “their a**hole”

Looks like both our teams have a bit of a “task” ahead of them in the second legs. I would much rather be in your position tho. Bayern May look slow at times, but they were tactically flawless the other night. And I don’t think that changes much in Munich.
At least you know what Alt Madrid is gonna do to you guys. beep beep beep, wooossshh. That was the sound of their bus backing up and PARKING in their end of the field. Not sure if it’s gonna work tho.

Anyway, can’t wait for the weekend games. Pool/United gonna be a good one!!

DTP    was going to let this thread slide but saw ur comment and I was thinking of saying the same thing to you.   i would rather be in your position.
Bayern hasnt been as sturdy in the back as in years past, and that away goal looms really large over there. how many times was Mane left unmarked?   the 'over' is practically a 'must' to at least look at.
for us, yes, we are at home, but geez, 2-0 fits Simeone like a glove. but when we decided we wanted to attack you saw what happened, pinned them back for 10 minutes. Max is soo predictable on the road.   those final 10 minutes of 1st leg will look exactly like the first 20 in Turin.   im hoping itll be enough but we will see. 2 weeks is too early to be looking but that was my initial thought.
from afar, looks like all the EPL clubs  starting to get things in gear, should be an interesting race to the wire this season.
