When I was 19 I left a local bar only to find John Riggins in the parking lot urinating on my right rear tire. Two weeks later on St.Patricks Day I was at another bar watching the NCAA tourny, when in walks Riggo wearing camo shorts and barefooted. He and some blonde girl take the little cocktail table right next to me and proceed to spend most of the evening on the dance floor. The funny thing was that he kept ordering gin and tonics and while he was dancing I would drink them. He would return to his table periodically and find an empty glass and order more (sometimes two) drinks. A good time was had by all.
I have played basketball with Dennis Scott and Grant Hill. One time Dennis Scott was on my team and announced that his ride was leaving. In order to insure that I stayed on the court I agreed to drive him home if he stayed. He did and we ran the court until we were tired.I then drove him like 15 miles to his house and found him to be very engaging.
I used to regularly sleep over at the house owned by an NFL general manager that won 4 Super Bowls.
After the third round of the 2000 President's Cup Lindsay Graham came by my vacated corporate hospitality tent looking for a beer. Not only did I give he and his friend a couple of beers each, but we spent the next hour following the Gamecocks/Vanderbilt game on my digital pager (there were no smart phones back then).
Correction: It was one NCAA championship in 1986 and he was the assistant head coach.
