Had hernia surgery a few years ago. Next day I call the Doc seeking relief. He ask me, how big are they? I reply WHAT! He replies, are they cue ball, baseball or softball size? I told him they hurt too much for me to find out for sure.
To avoid any movement I fasted (nothing to drink or eat) for 3 days. During the post-op appointment I asked him "why he didn't warn me"? His reply; "80% of his hernia surgery's are emergencies because everybody wants to avoid the consequence. Most of the pain is caused by how much they have to disturb everything to get the patch in place.
Good luck

I work in workers' comp and see these all the time. I've never seen anyone do more than one at once.
One at a time can seem more annoying since you have to do it twice and all but I think it's the more sensible way of treating them.
Good luck!

I had a double.
Did them both at the same time. Hurts like hell for about a week but that's what the meds are for.
Go for it all at once and get it over with.

I had bilateral hernia surgery a few years ago, and they did both at one time. The recovery is much faster, and less painful, if you it's done arthroscopic. I see absolutely NO reason to do one at a time, but I'm not a doctor. You will be very sore, experience swelling, and your balls will be black and blue for quite awhile...but that is going to happen to you twice if you do each procedure separately.
Find another doctor and get a second opinion, but to have to go through and pay for 2 surgeries makes zero sense to me.
