I was touched by that welsnight, It sounds like you are honest wth your self now, so you are going to be all right. In a very closely related true story does anyone here know what bookies (pure scum) do every single Monday night during football season? I knew a good guy who had to quit being a bookie because of it. They call up all the losers to collect. They call their cell phone a couple times (they don't answer) then they call the home phone and the wife answers. The wife knows right away who it is and why they are calling, she breathes hate through the phone and starts screaming at her husband for breaking yet again a promise not to bet anymore. The poor guy finally gets to the phone but in the background you can here the sounds of a family breaking apart; wife sceaming, kids crying, the whole nine yards.
Drinking destroys millions of lives too, but that doesn't mean it should be illegal, just respected for its dangers.
Stick around welsnight, their is a community of good guys here and you are welcome.

Tough luck Welsknight. Thanks for sharing what most gamblers would be too embarrassed to admit, even behind the computer. Being humbled, as you have been, is a good thing in the world we live in. That's when you truly learn.
Just to throw out one thing to any new bettors, no credit. Bet only what you have. Even today, and I've been sports betting for 20+ years, I don't bet on credit. I have a couple of online accounts and the bookie I use, on occasion, only when it's a game I really like, I give them a deposit, seriously. And the only reason I use them is because of the quick cash, I get paid on Tuesday for weekend winnings. If I break even, win one lose one, minus the juice of course, they owe me money (the deposit I gave them). Usually I'll let that rollover but if I need the cash, it's available. Once the cash is out of my "pocket", it's "spent" to me, no different than what I may have spent at the bar on Friday night. Think like that, don't put your eggs in one basket (bet it all on one game) and you can keep it fun and stay ahead of the game. F.W.I.W., I work and I probably always will and that's okay.
Ex military here (USAF), Good Luck Welsknight!!

damn...
sorry to hear that..
at first i thought it was a story of someone you knew, not you.
Ive learned the hard way too, and it cost way more than what it cost you.
I'm not saying $5,000 is chump change. It's a ton of money. But keep your head up.
