bad bad bad management.
everything went down hill when quinn "stepped down" as GM
If it was the old nhl, this team would look nothing like it does today. They would buy everyone up.
Everyone new this was going to happen , for years they would trade away all of their prospects for Brain Leetch , or Owen Nolan , or another washed up bum to try to win the cup that year. And they are still doing it today.. Giving 2 first rounders for kessel???????????WTF.
and moves like keeping Justin Pogge and givin away Tukka Rask ..bad decisions.
I mean fuck. Im a Leafs fan and i always will be . I wish i could be cheering for that 1st overall pick . But thanks to overratted Burke ill just have to watch the leafs miss the playoffs AGAIN

It's not really accurate to say that they don't spend money on players. They're always at the salary cap limit, and before the cap they would outspend most teams by $30-40 million a year. They just spend it on the wrong guys. Consider that Finger and Van Ryn take up $7 million a year and barely play, and Darcy Tucker and Andrew Raycroft are still being paid a million eacha year (all against the cap). It adds up pretty quick.
