I don't think the media will stop. He just roused a large chunk of Asia into watching basketball/NBA. Too many money to pass up on if they gave it a rest this early.
I heard Nike just signed him up too. I won't be surprised if he starts getting calls his way. I just hope ESPN and all other media focuses more on him being a Harvard grad and all than his race.

Very impressive for any 2nd year player (black or white or whatever color) to do what he has done. in his first 8 starts or whatever, he has definitely played and overachieved beyond what anyone would think... obviously, being asian has made this an even bigger phenomenon because its very rare for an asian to play at this level and this well, plus you add a player from an ivy league school doing this?? Its pretty crazy what hes done though. got to give Lin major props here, he handled himself very well too...

This is more a vent towards ESPN and the media and I'm sorry but I'm already sick of the guy. Now people are talking about him for MVP? Get real, are they even in the playoffs if the season ended today?
Its like the tebow thing, its a nice story but stop ramming it down our throats 24/7, its ridiculous. I literally cannot go 15 min on ESPN or talk radio without hearing someones opinion on the guy. Some are even already talking hall of fame!!! Huh???? The guy has had a nice stretch here but lets see a body of work before we all start blowing the guy every day. A week or two of good basketball on a dogshit team doesn't qualify as "must talk about 24/7."
Again this more towards ESPN and the media, I'm sure Lin is a fine lad, but lets talk about something else already. If I have to see a clip of that three vs Toronto one more time I'm gonna scream lol. I swear that clip is on TV 2500 times/day
you do know that TV have remote, so you can turn it off or change to cartoon network or national geo...I dont mind see his high light at all as long as he keep winning me money...Acutally that 3 in toronto game cause my cover of -4, I would ranther he didnt hit that one..

It's about the NY market and ESPN hype machine is doing everything they can to overhype the issue.
I take nothing away from Lin, but let's also look at the teams the knicks have beat while he has been at pg. Safe to say Dallas and LA are the best he has beaten. Good wins, not great.
Lin's short term validity will be determined tomorrow night vs Miami. Long term depending on where they end up in the playoffs, if they make it.
I say if they make it, because Melo and Amare are real good at fucking things up.
Back to the NY market, ESPN has been waiting to hype the knicks since the melo/amare deal, and they have never delivered. I like the fact that Lin of all people on that team is getting the hype, least he understands the team concept and you know this kid will work his ass off, instead of thinking he is owed everything.
As for the OP, I get what he is saying.
It's a rant on the ESPN Overhype machine.
They do it in every sport, because the robots at ESPN don't know how to think for themselves. They work with the BCS to shove biased info down our throats. Did it with Tebow, doing it with Linn.
It's kinda like the Brett Favre thing to me. I can't stand Favre, but it's really more hate I have of ESPN and their love of his antics, than him as a football player.
To sum up my thoughts, Lin has been good and stepped up when his team was going nowhere. Glad to see someone who is willing to work, go somewhere. It's not his fault ESPN overhypes him. If I was in his shoes, I'd be working out a deal to get some guaranteed money while the good times are rolling.
As the saying goes....
Don't hate the player (Lin), hate the game (ESPN)
That is spot on. If Lin played for the Bobcats, it would barely be newsworthy.

Haha we call him Asian because he is ASIAN. Whatelse are you going to call him?? I'm Taiwanese-American. Born and raised in LA. I have never been called an "American"--even though I'm more American than Taiwanese. Its not racist or anything. It is what it is.

Epic & Historic? Man please. You act like this dude has won the NBA Championship or something?
Yeah i'm tired of this Lin shit too. I'm not into all that Asian this or Asian that. I've seen Asian dudes that can ball before, this ain't new to me. And when I watch basketball, when a guy can play he can play, i'm not every second looking at saying wow that white guy can play, wow that black guy can play, wow that asian guy can play. Who gives a fuck, if you watch sports you see guys of all races on teams and shit.
This story is bullshit to me. Back in the day I can see a huge story about black guys playing in the NBA, because they were so racist they didn't want black people to play in the NBA and to see all the black guys in the league now is a Huge story. But this Lin shit is a joke. He's able to play, nobody is saying he's not allowed to play or nothing. Fuck this story!!! All Media bullshit, ESPN can suck my dick for all I care.
