Personally, I was all over the Eagles as soon as they beat MIN. However, I am reflecting a bit more. There are some points I am considering, as I DO subscribe to game-fixing or manipulation, etc.
1) The NFL has taken major PR hits this year and lost lots of viewers--so they say. They need a feel-good story to distract, divert and regroup.
2) The biggest figure ever in the NBA was...MJ. He has 6 titles to his credit. Brady has 5. There have already been segments on talk and sports shows comparing the two. Will Brady pass MJ, etc, etc.
3) We hear about behind the scenes strife in the Pats organization. Two backup QBs let go for peanuts. "It's all on Brady now".
4) Brady does what VERY few QBs have at his age. All but secures the MVP award at age 40. Could do what NO QB has done since 99, I think. Win both MVP and the SB.
5) Brady releases this vanity, self-promoting documentary series. Basically puts himself out there for some ridicule if they lose the SB.
6) Kraft is highly instrumental in getting Goodell his extension--so their "beef" was pure window-dressing to throw us off the scent.
I just think Belichick is out of NE after this season, and that this will be a gift from the NFL
I think they--as always--know something WE don't. I don't think Brady--who is notoriously reclusive and media-shy--puts himself out there unless he knows the Pats are winning on Sunday.

I don't know about the conspiracy side but you don't need that back NE. I am shocked that this line is not -7.5 or higher. So are the Las Vegas books as heard on VSIN.
The NE advantage could not be more clear. One team coming off of the biggest game of their lives, with TWO weeks off, going on the road, with a totally inexperienced Super Bowl team and staff, with a back up QB...versus the most experienced playoff team and staff in NFL history.
I'm starting to look at the Alternative Lines today. There is some huge plus money lines available for NE backers if they want to lay -7.5 -10.5 or -14.5. I know Philly is capable of a backdoor cover against big lines but you could offset this by a prop bet of 'Philly score last' if you want. NE is capable of a blowout against a team that CANNOT be prepared for this game.
For years I have heard interviews with first-time Super Bowl players who later state they were completely unprepared for how nervous they were for the big game.

In Comment #33, I mentioned that I am not super-confident about this game, so I bet one unit only, and nothing has happened since I placed the wager to alter my opinion.
