week 2 : Pick of the week >>>
Last week I picked the San Diego Padres , uncharecteristically giving up 10 points to a home team on Monday night ...
More than overestimating the SD Chargers , I believe I underestimated the Oakland Raiders in that game .
If you can't beat them , join them .
Though , Oakland travels to KC on a short week , the Raiders are an improved team having finished off last year's regular season with 2 wins , and nearly upsetting a vastly more experienced playoff team in the Padres..
Last Year Oakland traveled to KC and beat them 23-8 and ran ( literally for 300 yards ) all over the Chiefs .
Oak , actually outrushed KC by a measly 245 yards
Kansas City has not enjoyed home field advantage in quite some time and are only 3-10 ATS at their own house.
The road team in this series is 16-5-1 ATS in the last 22 meetings which is a dominating trend and stat .
Richard Seymour has made an inmediate impact , and though I thought it would take longer , once he showed up Oakland is already improved .
Kansas City can't stop the run , or can they run themselves much as was evidenced by their 29 yards rushing against the Ravens .
Oakland may not be the Ravens , but they did contain SD to only 77 yards on the ground .
The Raiders with Darren Mc Fadden and Michael Bush should continue their assault on the ground and I see no problems eclipsing the 148 yards they managed against SD .
Make no mistake about it .
The final score did not reflect how esily dominated the Chiefs were in week 1 .
11 to 32 first downs difference , 303 yards passing by the Ravens vs 159 by the Chiefs , and I already mentioned the rushing differences .
The Ravens held the ball on a 2 to 1 ratio.
They were crushed statistically , while Oakland held their own against SD and should have won that game in the end .
Oakland + 3 is my play of the week .( 2 units )
Good Luck
