As most here know I'm a Michigan fan. Looking at Luke Fickell at Cincy. Here are my observations viewing from the North.
Born and raised in Columbus, OH. Luke was a good nose guard at OSU and then an assistant coach from 2002-2016 at OSU. When he was thrust into the interim head coaching job in 2011 he looked way over his head. Had the "deer in the headlights" look on the sidelines. (same look Brady Hoke had at Michigan). Then when coaching the defense at OSU under Meyer he always was "CO"-defensive coordinator, always a big hire to back him up it seemed.
Now he is head coach at Cincy. He promises an up-tempo offense and hires Mike Denbrock from Notre Dame. Coach Kelly at ND took over offensive play calling and this is reported as a possible reason Denbrock left ND. Now Denbrock is no up-tempo OC, so....??
My take is Fickell was a hell of a player and loyal Buckeye, but can he really coach?? Is Meyer happier he is gone?

kid can cruit.... not sure im sold on him being a head man anywhere worth anything. but just being able to take the kids from ohio that the buckeyes didnt want will make him look very good in cincy. hell Dino has used that to springboard from osu D coordinator to Sparty head man

Fickle has never had a winning season as a head coach. The year he took over as interim head coach at OSU he went like 6-7. So pass untill he proves other wise. If he dont make it in Cincy he could be back to defensive coach somewhere else.

Actually I was looking at playing the regular season win total of Under-5 for even money. Thinking now I'll pass. Cinncy has enough athletes to win 5 or 6 games.
