Here we go again. hope theres no repeat from 4 years ago where:
- 12 of the 18 goals in the 1st KO Round were scored after the 80th minute.
- 7/8 were level at the half.
- the "totally non-applicable" but interesting stat: in the last 2 WC's in 1st KO Round the only country to eliminate a Conmebol team was another Conmebol team.
not going crazy with amts riske
France/Argentina - 4 years ago on their run to the finals, the Gauchos scored just once in regulation the entire KO round. this time around? well, everyone knows the drama so not wasting my time with that. but in their Group matches you can pretty much say they were expected to control possession, and they did, and had problems braking down defenses (amongst 15 other things too). but in France theyll finally get someone whom will come forward on them, and one thing Sampaoli - as much of a knucklehead he can be - all his teams were always pretty decent with counters; its his speciality. So i think theyre going to be much more comfy today and have the quality to create chances. on the other side, France is top-heavy with goalscorers, midfield too. and with the Gauchos habit of turning it over it just might be their downfall here. initially, i thought it'd be Croatia playing Les Bleus, and rated France just slightly better; and Croats thumped them. lastly, Deschamps is just one of those coaches I have a hard time trusting, and think the Gauchos can nick a goal if he decides to fall back.

France/Arg over 2.5 @+167
Uruguay/Port draw @+190 - too much nitpicking fer me. simply put, i think we see xtra time here.

no time to look for my other thread, heading out soon, soo gonna post it here:
WC Adjusted Futures: still plenty of value remaining in some of these lines.
plunking a bit on both due to the prices.
To Reach Semis:
Sweden @+500
If theres a team playing better than Sweden at this time I'd like to know.
- mixed it up rugby-style with a Korean team in their first match where the whole tournament struggled, 40+ fouls and eeked out a 1-0 win.
- played a different style vs Germany by parking the bus and should have actually won that. their HC even came out and publicly stated to his contrymen he made a tactical mistake after the Germans had a man sent off. fyi, not many coaches have the cajones to do that as their egos get in the way constantly. when ur a player and ur coach accepts the blame that makes tight-knit group.
- played a third style beating a really decent Mexican team at their own game. with a textbook counter-attack which had mexican defenders on their heels the whole 3/4 of the time.
and everybody is seeing just how hard it is to break these guys down, and Berg is dangerous up front. If they can get by Switz, theres no way theyre gonna be 500's vs Col/Eng so a great chance to hedge or whatever there.
Switz +400 - ditto Sweden. these two employ similar styles and really difficult to separate. like Sweden, the just love the counter and have quality all over the field.
winner of this match isnt gonna be in the 400s vs Eng/Col. leaving a lot of "wiggle" room for the Qtrs.
Total Goals over 155 @-110 - gonna take a big chunk of the PK award profits and roll it over into here. currently at 123 through Groups, need 33 to hit. 16 matches remaining; when you look at the pairings in Round of 16 theres 2-3 bus-parking matches, which can possibly be offset by several other games involving teams whom create many chances for themselves but have below-par defenses. when you hit the Qtrs onwards, conceding tends to freak teams out, and with VAR... this is a big advantage; but then again, wont need too many 'overs' there; + we have the added bonus of including that 3rd place match which ALWAYS hits 3.

Deep , thought Uru/Por was going to xtra time after that equalizer. but at this stage if you make a mistake, ur opponent will make you pay.
Boll as always buddy. yeah, i remember the countdown thread convo, PK's are FUN as long as it isnt ones own team involved ehh?
Duece ditto. as always. gearing up for tmrw? irrespective of whatever side im on, good luck with ur guys. you'll probably age 5 years in 2 hours though. friend translated a Russian article.... your boys not bus-parking tomorrow?
Ganda , where the heck have you been and what the heck did I miss? "puzzy"?
jdukes appreciate it. having a decent run of 5 days on the '+' side. (holding rosary beads) lets keep it going hopefully
yoro they got the better of him this time. that one-timer by Cavani was beautiful
well the 1st match went just as expected, still somewhat suprised the under was getting hammered considering the Gauchos biggest weakness played right into Les Bleus strengths.
10 goals??? brings the total to 132; 24 more remaining in 14 matches???? ........sweet.

Vin that one looks like another PK session. Switz has the talent to go deep, but geez those Swedes are playing awfully well-organized in the back. should be a good one.
