First pick up Josh Hamilton from free agency. Second get a healthy Victor Martinez back. Third win the Central Division again. Fourth win ALDS in five games. Fifth win the ALCS in seven hard fought games. Sixth have the Giants win the NLDS in three short games. Seventh have the Giants win the NLCS in four easy games. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST HAVE THE TIGERS KICK THE GIANTS ASS BUT GOOD IN THE WORLD SERIES and i don't care if it is in 4,5,6 or 7 games in fact seven would be even better because Verlander could throw 3 games and beat them all three. Verlander pitched that first game on 11 days rest and never got his pitches moving the way he would like and got ridiculed by three quarters of the world so he deserves another shot. One thing i will guarantee is next year if Verlander is picked to start the All Star game he will pitch like its the seventh game of the world series and not go out to just show he can throw 102 miles per hour like he did this year. I know it might sound a little greedy Santa but i sure hope you can come through.

Why would you want to play the Giants? That organization has won two out of the last three. And why in the hell would you want Hamilton? CANCER.
I'm not a big believer in the cancer thing. Different team different focus and i want his BAT. Just not sure what to do with him on the defensive side.

You want his bat? What the hell did he do down the stretch?
Once again that was this year. What the hell did any of the big hitters do for the Tigers in the world series. Once again that was this world series. Hamilton can hit and we can use his bat. Do you not think both Martinez (who i think is one of the biggest competitors in any sport) and Hamilton would add to this Detroit line up. The other thing i forgot to wish for is for fielder to lose maybe 75 pounds i actually think he would have a quicker bat and be more agile at first. You know the Tigers will be chomping at the bit next spring doing a slow burn over the off season.

I don't want Hamilton....I would like the Tigers to try and get more athletic.
I don't want Hamilton either. For one he is going to cost way too much in terms of dollars and length of contract. He also is prone to stretches of horrible at bats and then monster runs of production, we need ore balance. Just looking at the Free agent lists I would rather sign Michael Bourn or Angel Pagan than Hamilton. If we can't land them, taking a look at Tori Hunter for a couple years might be a good idea. Or we could go with Dirks in LF, Garcia in Right and sign a solid fourth outfielder type like Reed Johnson for insurance.

Step one: Sign Sanchez - he will make the bullpen better for certain by throwing tons of innings.
Step two: Find out who the closer is going to be. They have brought back Dotel. Valverde is gone...Benoit has one year left. Are they keeping or trading Bruce Rondon. He has to be one of the Tigers top players in the farm systems. Just don't bring in Heath Bell. If they sign Sanchez I would like to keep Smyly in the pen. Below may be the odd man out for the regular season anyways. Having a full season of the amazing Al will help.
Step three: What are the Tigers going to do with Garcia? Play him every day and send him back to the minors. I don't want him at the major league level riding the bench.

The reason they lost the WS is because they were missing a k ey cog from their lineup: Ryan Raburn
MARTINEZ WAS THE ONE THEY MISSED. And i still want Josh Hamilton i think he needs a change of scenery and i think a manager like Leyland than the RAH RAH coach in Texas.

Detroit does have excellent rotation, but interested to see any insight on none being left handed. It seems that this should be consideration and is especially important in playoffs ( ie result of WS may have been different if the Giants 3rd and 4 th starters were not lefties, against whom the Tigers apparently struggle)

hamilton's a great player, no argument, but at the price he'll command in addition to the potential for off-field issues i don't see it as smart or cost-productive move...
i respect the hell out of nolan ryan, and u know sumthn's goin on when ryan calls out hamilton as he did during the season...
IMO the tigers need to look at other options either thru free agency or trade...they have some chips to play with: porcello porcello porcello...
martinez will return, adding a big bat...
it's a team that needs to improve fundamentally, manufacture runs when the big lumber is slumbering, play better defence...
dirks from this viewpoint has a chance to be a decent player, and personally i don't think an OF of dirks, jackson, and berry in a platoon role with a less-expensive FA would be such a bad thing...
i hope they don't go big on a closer to replace valverde; i think they can get by there with the people they'll be keeping, maybe add a complementary arm or two...

it'll be interesting
I know Hamilton will come at a price. But when you think of the Texas Rangers who do you think of first Josh Hamilton. So the pressure on him to perform was huge. Now when he comes to the Tigers he will have a triple crown and more than likely MVP player in Cabrera, Fielder DH Martinez and i think all three will ease the pressure on him and he will play even better especially with the bat. Nolan Ryan was a hell of a pitcher but he is not the manager of the ball club and should keep his mouth shut. I know Dave Dombrowski would never call a player out and like i said i think Leyland would do a better job of handling him. Illitch has got the funds and wants a world series badly and i want to see Hamilton in a Tigers uniform.

Let me see .285 BA 43 HR and 128 RBI'S yeah i think the Tigers could use those numbers. And i'm sure all those numbers would increase playing in the Central division.
