Hello All! For tomorrow, heavy rains in the northeast will hamper efforts at Aqueduct. Only 3 races on tomorrows list from that venue as follows:
Aqueduct - 1,4,5
Gulfstream - 2,8
Santa Anita - 1,3,5,6,7
Tampa - 4,6
Oaklawn - 2
Back on Sept. 7th, 2012 I wrote a review of the horses to watch for from the Saratoga meet. You will find it on my Slew's Fast Horses racing blog:
"From the Saratoga meet, my horse to watch is Revolutionary. A colt by War Pass out of the A.P. Indy mare Runup The Colors, he runs for Todd Pletcher and
Winstar Farms. War pass stands for $15,000 but this colt sold for $235,000 and looked the part in his first start. The chart says he was "clobbered at the
start and forced hard into MONSIGNOR then checked..." and spotted the field six or seven lengths at the start...as the favorite. No question his price will
be short but this horse looks to be a runner, and we are looking towards the future and not just the next race. I have already marked him in my notebook,
and he will be a Slew key horse down the road."
On Saturday, Javiar Castellano makes the trek north from beautiful Hallendale Beach to ride this colt in the Withers at 1 1/16th miles. The race has Derby implications as it offers prep points as well as a good look at this colt who makes his 5th start after receiving a 102 beyer figure in his maiden breaker.
That race does not make Slew's list, as only one split was faster than par, even though the final time was 1:36.52. In fact, the track was playing so slow
that there were only 6 splits faster than par out of 9 races and 38 splits counted by Slew that day.
Revolutionary is the "other horse" for Pletcher who is looking at Shanghai Bobby, Violence and Overanalyze as possible Derby entrants, with some figuring Bobby to be the possible early favorite. With a strong showing on Saturday, my mouth will begin to water with "other horse" possibilities and exacta dreams...with Derby prices.
I ain't working this Saturday, so you know where I will be.
Meanwhile, enjoy the Thursday racing. And as always...good luck and good 'capping! - Slew SlewsFastHorses.com
