Injuries to both starting quarterbacks became a significant factor in Arizona State's 23-20 victory over UCLA on Saturday night in a Pac-12 game in Tempe, Ariz.

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen and Arizona State's Brady White gave way to backups because of injuries. White was playing in place regular starter Manny Wilkins, who is out indefinitely with a leg injury. He was replaced by third-stringer Dillon Sterling-Cole late in the fourth quarter after suffering a left foot injury.

UCLA's last-gasp effort to tie or take the lead on its final possession came up empty as Rosen's backup, Mike Fafaul, was sacked twice and finished the game by throwing an interception.

Rosen was knocked out of the game twice. He limped off the field with an apparent leg injury and went to the locker room in the second quarter. He returned midway through the third quarter after Arizona State (5-1 2-1 Pac-12) built a 13-3 lead on a 5-yard scoring run by running back Demario Richard.

Rosen engineered scoring drives in successive possession, a 19-yard field goal by J.J. Molson and a 52-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Lasley, to tie the score at 13 with 3:08 left in the third quarter.

White overcame a slow start to lead two touchdown drives in the third quarter. The second was a 14-yard pass to N'Keal Harry on the last play of the third quarter that gave the Sun Devils a 20-13 lead.

After a Rosen pass was intercepted by Arizona State safety Marcus Bell, Sun Devils kicker Zane Gonzalez increased the lead to 23-13 with 12:28 left in the fourth quarter with a 46-yard field goal.

The field goal was Gonzalez's third of the game and 86th of his career, setting an FBS record.

Rosen led a six-play, 75-yard drive that ended with an 18-yard touchdown pass to receiver Nate Iese to cut the lead to 23-20 with 11:10 left in the game. On the next possession for UCLA (3-3, 1-2), Rosen was sacked and was forced to leave the game again, this time with an apparent wrist injury.

Rosen finished 23-of-40 passing for 400 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. White completed 19 of 36 passes for 179 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
