Patrick Towles threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Boston College to a 42-10 home victory over FCS Wagner on Saturday.

Jon Hilliman also ran for two touchdowns for the Eagles (2-2, 0-2 ACC) who opened a four-game homestand with their first home win since last Sept. 26.

Towles, a graduate transfer from Kentucky, threw a 58-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Smith and a 27-yarder to Michael Walker and ran for scores of 17 and one yards. Towles finished 9 of 16 for 157 yards and ran for 46 yards on seven carries.

The Eagles, who ran for 300 yards in the game, fell behind 7-0 on a 55-yard run by Wagner quarterback Alex Thomson, but that was one of only seven first downs on the day for the visiting Seahawks (2-1).

Wagner got as close as 14-10 on a 34-yard field goal by Jim Cooper with 9:35 left in the second quarter, but BC then ran off 28 unanswered points for win.

Davon Jones led the BC running attack with 90 yards on 12 carries while Hilliman, who has four touchdowns in four games, picked up 83 yards on 19 carries as BC rebounded from its 49-0 drubbing at Virginia Tech last week.

Defensive end Harold Landry had three of BC's five sacks as Thomson, 13 of 25 for 62 yards through the air, wound up netting 20 rushing yards, including his 55-yard TD run.

Walker finished with a team-high four catches for 72 yards for the Eagles, who host Buffalo next week.

Keith Foster caught four passes, but for just 23 yards, for Wagner, which is home for its NEC opener against Sacred Heart next Saturday.
