Syracuse 54, Wagner 0: Terrel Hunt authored a dominant performance in his first career start and Jarrod West, Christopher Clark and Jerome Smith also enjoyed career days as the Orange destroyed the visiting Seahawks.

Hunt, a sophomore who played sparingly in his collegiate debut last week, was 15-of-18 for 265 yards with touchdown passes spanning 30, 41 and 65 yards. West had five catches for a career-high 147 yards and a score, while Clark set a career best with two TD catches as Syracuse outgained Wagner 595-87.

Former defensive coordinator Scott Shafer notched his first career win as coach of the Orange (1-2), who finished with 27 first downs while the Seahawks (1-2) only had five. Smith tied a career high with two touchdown runs – both in the first half – as Syracuse carried a 37-0 lead into the locker room.

The Orange punted on two of their first three possessions and then scored on eight straight drives, including seven touchdowns. Hunt’s 30-yard TD pass to Prince-Tyson Gulley kicked off a 28-point second quarter, while Hunt’s 65-yard scoring strike to West highlighted a 17-point barrage in the third.

By comparison, the Seahawks’ 15 drives ended in 11 punts, two interceptions, one fumble and a turnover on downs. Matt Misley, Chris Andrews and Kramer Berg combined to complete 6-of-21 passes for 34 yards, while Dominique Williams totaled 34 yards on 17 carries.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Drew Allen, who started Syracuse’s first two games after transferring from Oklahoma, relieved Hunt in the third quarter and went 8-of-11 for 62 yards and a touchdown. … The Orange have won 30 straight games against current FCS teams. … Misley, who doubles as Wagner’s punter, finished with as many punts (11) as passing yards (11).
