Recap: Michigan 59, Central Michigan 9

No. 17 Michigan 59, Central Michigan 9: Devin Gardner ran for two touchdowns and threw for another and Fitzgerald Toussaint ran for a pair of scores as the Wolverines moved to 15-0 at home under head coach Brady Hoke by beating the Chippewas.

Gardner, a redshirt junior and former wide receiver, scampered for a 22-yard touchdown in the first quarter and another covering four yards in second, just 1:36 after throwing to Jeremy Gallon for a 16-yard score. He finished 10-of-15 for 162 yards and two interceptions while adding 52 yards rushing.

Touissant plunged in from one and two yards, respectively, for the 16th and 17th rushing touchdowns of his career. Gallon, a fellow redshirt senior with nine career scores, has now caught at least one pass in 27 straight games for the Wolverines, who are 4-0 against Central Michigan.

Michigan's Joe Reynolds opened the scoring just over two minutes in by returning Dymonte Thomas' punt block 30 yards, marking the first punt block for a score by a Wolverine in nearly four years. Reynolds also set up a score with a 45-yard reception, his lone catch on the day.

Central Michigan's only scoring came off the foot of Ron Coluzzi, who booted field goals covering 23, 27 and 33 yards. The Chippewas mustered just 210 total yards and 12 first downs and had only four possessions that lasted more than four plays.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Central Michigan senior RB Zurlon Tipton, who entered the season with 2,065 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns in his career, left the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury. ... Brendan Gibbons, who kicked a 30-yard field goal, has converted 105 straight PATs for Michigan. ... Freshman RB Derrick Green and Thomas Rawls also scored on the ground for the Wolverines.
