Utah 49, California 27: Reggie Dunn set a school record with two 100-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns and the host Utes quickly pulled away for their first conference victory of the season.

John White had 105 rushing yards on 22 carries and scored two touchdowns to pace the offense for Utah (3-5, 1-4 Pac-12). In his third career start, freshman quarterback Travis Wilson completed 16 of 24 passes for 156 yards and also ran for a 5-yard score.

Cal quarterback Zach Maynard completed 20 of 32 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. The Golden Bears (3-6, 2-4) rushed for 153 rushing yards against Utah after getting held to three yards in last week’s 21-3 loss to Stanford.

After the Golden Bears took a 3-0 lead on the game’s opening drive, Dunn returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown.

Later in the quarter, Cal freshman receiver Chris Harper fumbled following a short reception. Reggie Topps recovered the ball and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown and a 14-3 lead. The Utes came into the game with a nation-leading 13 forced fumbles, returning three for touchdowns.

With the Utes leading 42-13 early in the fourth quarter, Dunn ran back his second kickoff return, giving him three 100-yard scoring returns in his career, another school record.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cal junior wide receiver Keenan Allen caught his 203rd career pass on a 23-yard TD reception early in the fourth quarter, breaking the school record previously established by Geoff McArthur from 2000-04. … Cal senior right guard Dominic Galas, expected to make his first start after missing the first seven games following surgery for a torn pectoral muscle, did not play after suffering an appendicitis early Saturday morning. Galas started all 13 games at center last season.. … Utah had 27 total yards from scrimmage in first quarter but still led 14-3.
