James Franklin overcame three first-half interceptions and Missouri rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Kansas 24-10 in the final scheduled Border War showdown.
Franklin accounted for 232 total yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers (7-5, 5-4 Big 12), who improved to 4-1 all-time against Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium.
Missouri, which struggled to move the ball in the first half, took its first lead at 17-10 when Franklin connected with Wes Kemp for a 25-yard touchdown with 5:34 left in the third quarter.
They extended the lead to 24-10 on Franklin’s second TD pass, a 53-yarder to Marcus Lucas.
The Jayhawks (2-10, 0-9 Big 12) forced Franklin into three interceptions, including a 57-yard return for a touchdown by Bradley Mcdougald, en route to a 10-3 halftime lead.
However, Kansas botched a punt snap on the opening possession of the second half, and the Tigers took over inside the 20-yard line. Three plays later, they evened the score at 10 on Kendial Lawrence’s 2-yard touchdown run.
With the loss, the Jayhawks finished winless in the Big 12 for the first time since 2002. Jordan Webb was limited to 60 passing yards for Kansas, which was outgained 351-137, including 164-65 on the ground.
Missouri will leave the Big 12 for the SEC beginning next season, and the rivalry, the second-longest in college football history, will be put on hold.
