Auburn used a stifling defensive effort and took advantage of some unforced errors by visiting Florida to earn a 17-6 victory on Saturday.

The No. 24 Tigers (5-2, 3-1 SEC West) took an eight-point lead when Onterio McCalebb opened the fourth quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run.

The Gators (4-3, 2-3 SEC East) gave themselves a shot at getting into overtime when they forced Auburn to punt from its own 6-yard line with a little more than three minutes remaining, but punt returner Robert Clark fumbled away a fair catch attempt.

Cody Parkey, who had missed a pair of field-goal attempts earlier in the game, converted a 42-yarder with 35 seconds left to seal it for the Tigers.

Florida, which has lost three straight games since losing quarterback John Brantley to injury, survived two turnovers in the first quarter but finished with only 194 yards of offense. The Gators marched 64 yards to the Auburn 16 after McCalebb's score, but came up empty when Jeff Driskel's fourth-down pass to Deonte Thompson fell incomplete.

Auburn scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Barrett Trotter to DeAngelo Benton with 2:11 to go in the opening quarter. Florida pulled within one in the second period on field goals of 47 and 25 yards by Caleb Sturgis.
