Quarterback Ryan Tannehill ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as No. 25 Texas A&M held on for a 45-40 victory over host Texas Tech on Saturday.
Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege was 44-of-66 for 391 yards and three touchdowns as the teams combined for 933 yards of offense.
The Aggies (3-4, 1-1 Big 12) scored four rushing touchdowns in the first half and rang up more than 300 total yards to take a 31-20 halftime lead.
Texas A&M went ahead 38-23 when Terrence Frederick returned a blocked Donnie Carona field goal attempt 65 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
The Red Raiders closed to within 38-30 on a 5-yard touchdown pass by Doege to Eric Ward later in the third before Tannehill hit Michael Lamothe on a 5-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter to make it 45-30.
Doege's 20-yard touchdown pass to Alex Torres made it 45-40 with 31 seconds left.
The game marked the last time the Aggies and Red Raiders (4-1, 1-1) will meet as Big 12 opponents with the Aggies set to play in the Southeastern Conference next season.
The Aggies lead the all-time series 37-33-1 and have won the last three meetings. The Red Raiders had their seven-game winning streak snapped.
