Kellen Moore matched his career-high with five touchdown passes to lead No. 4 Boise State to a 40-15 victory over host Toledo on Friday.
Tyler Shoemaker caught three touchdown receptions from Moore, who improved his career record to 40-2 as the Broncos (2-0) moved the ball through the air at will against the Rockets (1-2).
Moore completed 32-of-42 passes for 455 yards. It was the fourth time Moore threw five touchdown passes, and the third time he topped 400 yards. The 32 completions were a career-best.
Shoemaker caught touchdowns passes of 26, 1 and 17 yards. Running back Doug Martin turned a screen pass into a 71-yard score and Kyle Efaw caught a 12-yard scoring pass.
Drew Wright added an 8-yard scoring run for Boise State.
The Rockets turned the ball over twice in the third quarter after reaching the Boise State 11 and 9-yard lines. Chase Baker intercepted a tipped screen pass early in the quarter and J.C. Percy recovered Austin Dantin’s fumble late in the period.
Toledo took a 6-0 lead on its opening possession after Danny Noble caught a 24-yard screen pass from Dantin.
Adonis Thomas added a 1-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter for the Rockets, who lost to No. 16 Ohio State 27-22 on Saturday.
Boise State is the highest-ranked team to play at Toledo’s Glass Bowl.
