Recap: Auburn 65, Arkansas 43
Oct 16, 2010
Auburn quarterback Cam Newton rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 13 Arkansas lost a shootout -- and its quarterback -- in a 65-43 road loss to the seventh-ranked Tigers on Saturday.
Razorbacks quarterback Ryan Mallett, who entered the game ranking second in the nation with 349.6 passing yards per game, left in the second quarter with a concussion.
Backup Tyler Wilson kept the Razorbacks (4-2, 1-2 SEC) in it with four touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score to Greg Childs with 14:17 left in the fourth quarter. But Auburn's defense forced turnovers on three consecutive possessions to pull away.
Zac Etheridge scooped up a Broderick Green fumble and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown to make Auburn's lead 51-43, and Wilson threw interceptions on back-to-back possessions to set up touchdown runs by Newton and Michael Dyer.
Newton topped 190 rushing yards for the fourth time this season. He also threw for 138 yards and a touchdown on 10-of-14 passing.
Wilson completed 25 of 34 passes for 333 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. Childs caught nine passes for 164 yards and two scores.
Auburn (7-0, 4-0 SEC) has won 61 consecutive games when scoring 30 points or more.
