Leake (8-4) allowed three hits, walked two and struck out five as the Mariners snapped a season-worst five-game losing streak.

Although the right-hander threw just 98 pitches and it wasn't a save situation, the Mariners used closer Edwin Diaz in the ninth inning because he hadn't pitched in a week. Diaz allowed both Boston runs, including an RBI triple by Mitch Moreland.

Seattle's Mitch Haniger hit a run-scoring double in the first inning and a two-run double in the fourth.

Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (9-2) had his six-game winning streak snapped. Rodriguez lasted just four innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits. He walked two and struck out two.

Rodriguez struggled from the start, as Dee Gordon reached on an infield single and Haniger followed with an RBI double to center.

The Mariners made it 2-0 in the third as Nelson Cruz doubled with one out and scored an out later on a fielding error by shortstop Tzu-Wei Lin, who was called up earlier in the day from Triple-A Pawtucket. Lin was filling in for Xander Bogaerts, who suffered a sprained left index finger in the Red Sox's 14-10 victory Friday night.

With one out in the fourth, Rodriguez walked Chris Herrmann, and Andrew Romine singled to center. The runners advanced when Gordon tapped back to the mound and scored on Haniger's double to left. After a walk to Cruz, Kyle Seager drove in Haniger with an infield single to make it 5-0.

The Mariners scored single runs in the sixth and seventh off reliever Hector Velazquez.

With two outs in the sixth, Cruz singled, Seager doubled and Ryon Healy drove in a run with an infield single.

In the seventh, Guillermo Heredia led off with a single and moved to third on a hit by Herrmann. Heredia scored on Gordon's groundout for a 7-0 lead.

Mariners shortstop Jean Segura, who is third in the American League with a .334 average, missed his third straight game with a right forearm infection. Segura might return for Sunday's series finale.
