Things are rolling in the NBA season and player props are officially hotter than ever. For our favorite prop picks today, we like a trio of guards to light up the scoreboards for their respective teams.

Tonight’s NBA games are intriguing, as many teams will need big performances from star players to avoid falling too deep into a hole this early in the season.

In what will surely be an exciting night of basketball, I like the chances for Tyrese Haliburton to score in a big way against the Brooklyn Nets, Steph Curry to handle business as usual against his hometown Charlotte Hornets, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to continue solidifying himself as one of the games bright young stars in a matchup with the Dallas Mavericks.

Here are my favorite NBA player prop picks for October 29.

Can the real Brooklyn defense please stand up?

One of the emerging young stars in the NBA is that of the Indiana Pacers Tyrese Haliburton. It’s still baffling that the Sacramento Kings sent him packing at last year's trade deadline and even more confusing that the New York Knicks passed on him in the 2020 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-5 point guard can do it all on the court. He’s equally dangerous on and off the ball, serving as an elite shooter and ball handler.

Haliburton is a team-first player who doesn’t always look to take over games. However, he’s stepping more into his shoes as a dangerous scorer, averaging 23 points per game.  His Over/Under is currently sitting at an enticing 20.5 points, where he’s surpassed that mark four times in this young season.

The Brooklyn Nets, to date, have not shown the ability to slow teams down, allowing 121.6 points per game, which ranks second worst in the NBA. Every team they’ve faced this year has seen a player post some unbelievable numbers against them. In the last three games alone, Luka Don?i? scored 41, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 43, and in Memphis, Ja Morant and Desmond Bane combined for 76. The Nets do not play sound defense, and Haliburton will capitalize with a signature performance.

Tyrese Haliburton Prop:: Over 20.5 points (-120)

Steph's homecoming

The legendary Steph Curry is 34 years old and has yet to show any signs of slowing down. He looks even more impressive to start this season than he did at the beginning of the 2021-2022 campaign.

Curry has been blistering from beyond the arc, reminding everyone he’s the game's greatest shooter. In five games this season, the 14-year veteran is averaging 30.8 points and 6 assists on 48% shooting from the field. Curry is a mismatch nightmare for every team he faces, including his hometown Charlotte Hornets, who just let Jalen Brunson combine for 40 points and assists.

Curry, a far more dominant player than Brunson, should have little issues scoring his points and dishing out assists against a team that is still without LaMelo Ball to put pressure on Curry on the opposite end of the floor. Charlotte is surrendering 117.3 points per game, so it’s hard to imagine Curry not having his way in front of family and friends

Stephen Curry Prop: Over 33.5 points + assists (-110)

Shai makin em pay

If a single player is taking his game to a different level this season, it has to be Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The fifth-year pro is having a tremendous start to the season, carrying the young and inexperienced Oklahoma City team on his shoulders. Gilgeous-Alexander could always score, but his current 29.3 points per game average is nearly five more than his career high. With Dallas coming to town, I see no reason he shouldn’t be able to keep the hot streak going.

The Mavericks have the 17th-ranked defensive rating in the NBA and struggle to slow down opponents' top players. One thing certain is SGA will get his field attempts up (currently averaging 23 attempts per game). That won’t hold well for a Mavericks team allowing opponents to score on 48.3% of their shot attempts (sixth worst in the NBA).

The odds have Gilgeous-Alexander at 26.5 points, which clearly shows the sportsbooks are beginning to respect his position as a legitimate scoring star in the NBA today. This is a number he’s surpassed in three out of the four games he’s played this season, and he has a great shot at scoring 30 plus today.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Prop: Over 26.5 points (-102)
