So what’s up with teams getting red cards yet still scoring and winning? I always thought the man advantage was in the other teams favor but it doesn’t seem like the case anymore. For example I had Pachuca/Santos draw and Pachuca gets a red card then proceeds to score and ends up winning. Not saying I should have won just thought it would be the other way around. Saw this yesterday too with Braga/Sporting. Sporting has red card all game long and scores at the last minute to win. Yeah a little bit sour about my Mexico bet but at the same time just an observation I found odd.

When the other team doesn’t have a great offense it doesn’t mean as much as you’d think. These teams aren’t man city patiently dissecting the defenses.

had some time, saw ur thread, hope ya dont mind thy chiming in and xplain a bit. been getting hit with red-cards of late as well (happens every year so no big deal. just all comes at once) its a big MYTH to simply assume a team goes down a man and suddenly the other side has this huge advantage. futbol isnt like other sports I guess, i dont know. but what I do know is that it also depends on the situation and 'timing' of red card. dont know of the games you used as example so ill approach from both sides: when a team gets red-carded, most of the time youll see the HC replace his striker or someone upfront with a midfielder or what not. nothing really changes as far as formation. just that theres nobody up front. counter-attacks STILL remain the same as well as shifting strategies so quite often youll see the team down a man stil lbe able to create off turnovers. the BIG DIFFERENCE which red cards do to a team whom gets red carded is, BALL PRESSURE. they dont/cant attack the ball. they sit back. but the counter attcack is still just the same as if there were 11 men out there. so you still will see goals being scored. or at the very least, set pieces i nthe offensive end which can create possible goals. of course if you are behond 0-1 and get red carded? all h*ll is going to break loose.
on the other side, the team whom is up a man, again, depends on situation. if they have lead can simply play keep-away and KILL a game. but many dont need to plow forward and send numbers with an extra man. quite often, the good teams will just sit there passing back n forth between defenders, try to force the opponents further up the field. it creates space and opens passing lanes. City does this a lot, Real too. give Kevin or Luka or any half-decent midfielder passing lanes front of him and youre in a world of trouble defensively. applying ball pressure when youre a man down is suicidal in most leagues. again, this isnt something you can sit there and paint across all matches, it depends on each individual situation as well.
